Default Most Badass, Spare No Expense Radar Detection System?

Aright guys I've gotten two wreckless driving tickets in the last 5 months, and my parents are now selling my beloved '94 Mustang GT 5.0, which is probably for the best. (I've been a Honda fan for a long time, and have had mad respect for yall since I first learned what the acronym VTEC, and am now looking to become one of yall once I save the money).

Anywho, what I need to know is what's the best thing I can buy as radar detection, to avoid this from happening again. Yea I know I could get some weight taken out of my foot, but there's no fun in that, right? So what's the best thing I can buy. I saw a $1800 system at my local tuner shop; I'm not looking to spend quite that much. Something around $400-$500. I don't understand what all the technical language of them things mean, so I was hopin yall could help me out and point me in the right direction. Thanks.

*~*EDIT*~*

I also want to know what the best car alarm/security system is, too. Any input on that?

well, why dont you look at the V1 for a radar detector.. theyre pretty good, and look at a Compustar alarm, or maybe like the viper 690 xv.. thats what Im using, and its pretty good, just the range on the remote could be better... and ive heard the compustar has great range.

i always hear valentine 1 is good. i have a cobra that works ok for @100. Look into those new whistler and other radar systems that check police radar relays. there was an article in sport compact car a year or so ago about them. cop cars like hiway patrol have radios that act as relay stations as well. these new radar detector systems scan for these frequencies being emitted from cop cars and warn you when they are detected. not really radar but more of a "there is a cop around" type detection.

really imo radar detectors arent really worth it, i mean yeah its great from a self-security stand point, but i mean if a cop really wants to nab you he will. i have ridden with a few cops before and i know that they usually just turn their radar on and off at the flick of a switch...just so your detector doesnt pick it up.

i guess they are valuable on the highway though. Around town...wouldnt really bother with one though.

The best would be the Passport 8500 X50, plus the ZR3 shifter add on system, but thats alot of $$$$$.

V1 is the best you get. A radar detector or even a jammer can only offer so much protection. IMO radar detector have become useless because police don't just beam radar down the highway anymore. By the time your radar goes off it just means you got a ticket.

How much of a warning did you get before you got your ticket?

My advice to you would be take all that money your going to spend on radar and spend it at your local track. It's more safe for you and everyone else. Fill your need for speed at the track.

Good luck on this one they have so many exclusions written in that it's a joke. They also aren't going to pay the increase in insurance. Two wreckless drivings has got be expensive. I pay $200 a month to insure three cars and a bike full coverage.

yes the k40 Is my opinion the best. It is a hideaway unit, but there is an Led that blinks to let you know if there is a radar signal to the fron, left, right or rear of you.
But I dont have to worry bout hiding a radar detector, I live in PA and they're legal here
