Any "layer" you add to a properly installed alarm will slow a crook down, if it is a "redundant", [not controlled by the alarm] layer it is even better as it means the crook has more then one thing to "bypass".

I am no fan of removable steering wheels as a security layer as it is easily bypassed with a set of vice grips and inconvenient to use, [just a little too big to put in your pocket.

A hidden kill switch would be more effective. 94

Welp, it'd definitely make them carry a large pair of vice grips, which'd be a bonus. Only issue is then the airbag is being sacrificed.

Above said is true, however minus power steering and you have a very "good" layer, considering it being harder to turn, you would need a very large pair of vice grips, which will make it nearly impossible to take full turns. But you will need to get a hub lock so they cant just slap on another wheel

I have a set of these in my tool box... http://cgi.ebay.ca/LOCKING-GRI...l1247 I could turn the steering of a Ford F350 pin to pin without any problem. 94

Most thieves nowdays use flatbeds anyways, best bet is a garage and most importantly comprehensive insurance.
