Default Horn honk with alarm wiring.

hey guys,

I know this question might have been answered a million times, but I want to be sure of what I'm doing.

I have 2 wolo universal horns (high & low tone) I want to hook up my horn output wire from the alarm to my horn wire. The output amperage for the wire says 500 mA and it's negative output.

Two questions:

1. Can I hook up the wire straight to gray negative trigger without another relay?

2. I see in my alarm book 86- Alarm output,87 - horn wire 30- ground and 85- +12v. Can I put the 12volts to my park light output?

Hook up what wire to what gray wire???

"2. I see in my alarm book 86- Alarm output,87 - horn wire 30- ground and 85- +12v. Can I put the 12volts to my park light output?"

Say what???

MM&Y of car would help as well as make and model of alarm.

Most alarm horn ouputs are low current grounds, as you say 500mA, without knowing the current draw of your "horns" it's hard to say, but I am guessing it is more then 1/2 an amp so I would install a relay, a relay will also insure full current to the "horns".

Not sure why you want to use the light flash output for anything but light flash, if you ment you want to use it for the relay for the horn, the alarms horn output is pulsed already. 94

I was relating to the blue/gray at the steering column that goes behind the stereo. It was a 98 civic ex.

The alarm is Valiant 5000 series. Anyhow I got some info from the company, They said go to the ignition white wire....

Can't I tap off the brown siren wire for the 12 volts?

The 98 Civic uses a relay for the horn, so as long as your alarms horn output is a neg.(-), then yes, you can connect it directly to the horn lead at the steering column or at green alarm connector behind radio.

Also check the horn wire, I remember it as a blue/green. 94

You can hook up directly to the lead, but yes, check the output +/-

FCM than you for your input. I thought I'd need a second relay as the instructions in my alarm manual was confusing.

The blue/green is in the steering column. I just used the gray on the connector behind the radio.

I read over my manual and saw that the horn will only honk when the alarm is triggered not armed/disarmed which is pretty sweet for me.
