hardwire zune
 

would it be possible to use a radio delete, and then hardwire my zune into my wiring harness? with of course the use of an amp.

You wouldent need to harwire it into the harness ....

Just Zune -> Mini to RCA -> AMP -> To speakers

Its been done before, but dosent sound good.

Its not bad, its just not great.

The internal amp in all Zunes/Ipods are not that great at all, and if you do use a Line out that bypasses the amp, you lose volume control on the player.

I dont think most amps are easy to control volume.

it can be done but the sound quality tends to suffer a bit as TanCar had stated. i did it once when i molded a PSP into this kids' dash...using it as his MP3 and video/sound source...it did work...but it didn't sound all that great. I'd look into using some sort of a stereo that has DACs and an aux-in.

MP3s are junk if you are going for even somewhat DECENT sound...forget about sound quality. When an MP3 is played you have to think of the original source.
A CD is copied to a hard drive somewhere (loss of signal quality).
That hard drive in turn goes to a server somewhere where it is compressed (loss of signal quality).
That server sends that same compressed song over the net (loss of signal quality).
As you download the song...guess what??? (loss of signal quality)
As you either transfer that song to another CD or send to an MP3 player (loss of signal quality).
As you play through the headphone jack output that was not designed for sound quality...(loss of signal quality).

As you try to use that crappy, low-voltage, no DAC output to drive the inputs on an amp you would have to crank up the volume on the source and then adjust your amps' settings accordingly.........FOR EVERY SONG!
do you wanna pull over every five minutes to adjust your amps???

have you ever noticed that when going from song to song on an MP3 player or the like that almost every song has it's own inherent volume???

now take your copy of that same song and find someone with an original CD and listen to them both....back and forth and you will clearly notice a difference in the amount of volume from an original CD to the MP3 (or the like).

The Only way it would sound good is a dedicated line out (not shure if a zune has this) with LOSELESS audio on it. if you dont know what that is, then dont do it.

i do buy my own music i have thousands of songs from cd's bought. i didn't ever say anything about downloading music. i was just wondering if i could do this and how. i understand how to do it but as its explained it sounds less and less worth the cost of doing so.

they only support mp3 and wma, not wma lossless. as the software progresses however, with updates in firmware, it is promised that the zune will be lossless wma compatable. but not yet. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif

I hope you are not meaning every time it is tansfered it looses more signal quality. when the mp3 is allready made, its a data file. No matter how many times the mp3 is transfered it will not loose its original sound quality to the point that it was made. the only way to reduce it is to reencode an mp3 file or corrupt the file somehow.

I am saying copying the cd to mp3 format definately does reduce its sound quality, just also saying that after the mp3 file has been created, it wont loose quality with transfering it from device to device as a amp
