Element alarm fob light only after a few presses
weird issue lately :
It's on my 2003 Element security alarm system fobs(OEM). I have two fobs. One works perfect, the other started not to respond. When I press unlock/lock button on the fob the light does not come on. If I press it more times then the light comes on and it work again. But if I leave the fob unused for a few hours then it stops responding and I need to press a lot of times for the light to come on and it works again. Almost like if I don't use it for a few hours it needs to "warm up" !! I tried : - replacing battery, tested voltage make sure batteries are all good - cleaned contact point on the fob to the battery(I read that there might be corrosion) but I don't see any corrosion on my terminals What else could I check ? |
Re: Element alarm fob light only after a few presses
Most likely "collapsed" switch(s), corroded contacts in the switch(s).
Could also be as simple as a cold solder connection somplace on the board. 94 |
Re: Element alarm fob light only after a few presses
How do I safely take apart this old key fob so I can check all contact points and see the circuit board ? This is the old fob where it's separate from the keys, not like the one with Pilot where the fob is the key. I tried to insert thin precision screwdriver all round the thing and pry it open but I couldn't figure out where any "clips" are. I didn't want to just use force for fear of breaking any clips. Now the thing has teeth marks all around the seams
