Kind of a big battery but Yes that'll work. Just be sure to install it fully charged if at all possible. Also try to mount that sucker firmly and insulate all connections to the battery.

It is designed to, but most people dont drive their cars long enough at a given time to fully re-charge one of these batteries. Plus, once the back up battery fully discharges, its tough to recharge it using the DEI module.

hey everyone, i dont know how des charged the battery like he mentioned in the first post, do i need to buy a machine or battery charger or something?... or can i just buy the battery from a store, and just plug and play like yesseway said? But that would probably mean the battery wont be as effective as if i charged it the way PS wanted huh

I purchased that same battery Des mentioned about a year ago the PS-1212, i also did not charge it the way Des mentioned, and just connected the plugs, very similar to what the last poster said, now the backup battery when tested in the car, doesnt make any siren noise, i can hear the siren working, making clicks, but it seems like it doesnt have enough power to make the full Siren Noise... is the battery dead? should i buy a new one or can i fix it?

Sounds like the battery never charged or was bad. If you not going to charge the unit first. Make sure the car runs for 30 mins or take it for a 30 min drive. The unit charges better at 14 volts and not at rest at 12.5. Buy a new one and let the car run. If the battery is new it should be able to power the alarm right out of the box.

If not bring your car in. I remember doing your car some years ago, lol. Sd, what a trip!

Some retailers sell these batteries without being charged up or with the charge the factory sent them with. There's no telling how long they sat on a shelf before being sold. Its a good idea to charge the battery before installation or to do as Des said and take longer drives to help charge the battery up.

^^^ were I order my replacement. They charge and make sure there good before shipped. But they charge a lil extra. But it saves me time on installs.

Were ever you purchase your batteries please make sure there good and not expired or been on the shelves to long.

Okay, can someone tell me where i can buy a back up battery that comes charged? Or Des, can you please sell me one? Its wierd because i been driving to LA and back to SD a couple times in the last month (1 and half hour drive) should have been charged by then. But then again i might have bought the battery empty.

You can as long as the charger doesn't put out more than 1.4 amps.

The 520T module is supposed to recharge the battery while the car is running. If you take a lot of short trips and would prefer to charge it on an external charger, wire a second set of leads to the terminals and make it possible to access them to connect to a charger.

Found my 520 battery is deader than than a door nail and needs to be replaced. Looking for a battery that has a better track record.

I'm not the OP, but I've had no issues with Panasonic 1.3ah SLA batteries on my personal vehicles and those I've replaced for others. 14 months and still retains a solid charge. When the 520T is triggered, the sirens sound loud and clear.

I use this Zeus battery. I paid less than 20 buxs via ebay for it. Still going strong after almost 2 years.
