This was brought up in the "New Ice" post (Alpine or Eclipse by the way). I want to know how everyone buys their stuff. I have always bought at retail type stores (after I beat them up over price) 'cuz I don't trust Ebay as much as others do. It seems that most of the people that post here are in love with Ebay though. Let's see! If I missed an option, just add it in, but don't add any stupid ****.

I've bought a lot of good stereo stuff for really killer prices!

I always buy new though, no refurbs or whatever. I've never had any problems with any stereo stuff I've bought on ebay.

It's soo much cheaper on ebay, to me it's worth the risk.

If u dont buy the stuff on e bay.. use the prices they offer (including shipping)to compare prices at other places..usally im willing to pay 50 or less if i can get it in a store but if the price is greater then that. then u should be going to a different store or asking for a better price.. if u still buy that unit when you know its "over priced" be ready to be called a moron and to hear about how a bunch of people got the same unit much cheaper.

Most places on ebay don't offer warranty on items. And if they do you have to pay shipping both ways on the item. It is easier in my opinion just to buy from a store. this way you can see what you are truly getting. They almost always have better customer service and well you don't have to pay for warranty items. Another big factor in not buying from ebay is you can usually get really good deals when being a repeat customer at a store. You can't get that off ebay.

Here is my take on the E-BAY deal:
Everyone wants the same goods and services that they can get
at a local dealer from some mystery person with a site. It doesnt
work that way...and if you believe it can I feel very sorry for you.
Granted there are some legit shops that sell some of thier slower moving
/disco products on Ebay,but they are the minority. I get calls and visits
daily from peeps who have purchased gear on ebay looking for info
and support. Why? Because they can't get that stuff from the sellers.
Eddie Kay ( a national recognized sales trainer) states "..All things
being equal...I will buy from the cheapest place." This is so true.
If I can get the same level of service/advice/product that a local dealer
can provide from an ebay site...I'm shopping ebay. But this is NEVER
the case. This topic has been covered on so many sites and forumns
and it always ends up the same. If you want the coolest hotest newest
toys each year...you better support your local dealers. It sucks waiting
to have a product shipped from 3 states over because there are NO
LOCAL DEALERS IN YOUR AREA !!! Now imagine if it had to be repaired?
...oh what fun that is..

Unlike Koreanwilcox...I love refurbs. Why? When a product fails..the manufucture
wants to know why and how. The product is dismantled and reassembled by
human hands. What comes out of this autopsy is a product that in many cases
far exceeds what comes of the automated assembly lines. These "factory
freaks" are out there,but peeps pass up on them...because they are not " new in
box. Imagine a K brand 2 channel amp that is rated to do 800 watts ( avg 820-865
based on birth sheets I have seen)..doing 1200 watts. I saw the birth sheet
and the kid who got it could not be any happier. So there are diamonds in the ruff
out there.

I buy only new things off of ebay...actually I lie, I bought a pair of refurbed L7s that still work to this day. And just a little tip, if you buy something off of ebay and you are scared that it will be broke, take your broken equip to you local dealer of that item...buy it there, take it home, swapout the store bought for the ebay bought!!!!

In a perfect world that would work until they check the serial numbers of the items and find that they don't match. Then try and explain it to them.

How many shops actually check serial numbers? I don't know of any in my area, including national chains.

Many stores in my area put the serial numbers on the receipts because of insurance policies. Where I live it is public insurance and you are required to have serial numbers for stereo equipment if you want a higher value put on your equipment. Otherwise the max they will give you is $1000.00 for everything if it is stolen. Kinda sucks, but hey they do what they gotta do.

sleaze bay is a joke. I have yet to find anything other than used products that you can't find locally from a reputable shop for the same price. People who buy from these prices fail to realize how much they are actually making these companies. If you are a website only with no store front, you have far fewer operating costs. If you don't have a physical store there is now way in hell I will pay anywhere near retail.

Trading out equipment like this is just wrong. You are really screwing over your local guy because if they try to return it to the factory, I can gaurantee you the factory knows which serial #'s they sold.
You guys probably don't care though, I agree - Pond Scum.
