comments on this ground spot for my amp??
Hello h-t.
What do you all think about polishing this spot up and putting my ground wire here? It fits perfectly on here. I would just need a bolt to keep it attached completely. It appears to be theeaded. Not sure what it's for. But it seems like my shortest route for the length of cable I have right available.
Also, I have a 1100w rms amplifier that I will probably wont push hard, I have an 80amp inline fuse near the battery. the amplifier has 4 fuses x 25 amps, should I look for 100amp fuses to run instead? Or jusy try the 80?
And I have available some 4 ga wiring from my battery. Some recommend using 2ga for 100amps(approximate rms pull) at approximately 15-20' to the trunk. Do you think I should upgrade? Its an alpine mrx m110 amplifier and two 12" alpine type r subs.
Thanks for any helpful input
And it's a 97 accord by the way!

the threaded hole in the middle of the picture. Make sure to use the correct bolt and scrape away the paint.

Id say its less than ideal being on the carriage shelf or whatever its called, however a good clean ground is just that, a good ground that works. If it works, then its a good ground id reckon. I would try and go more on the floor pan, ive never grounded something to the rear speaker shelf but like i said itll prolly work.

If the paint is scraped off anywhere your ground wire touches the metal,(including the threads) you should be fine.

Thanks everyone! I actually decided to order a 2ga wire for powering the amp. Just waiting on that to be delivered. Which means I will have enough 4ga left over to make a more decent ground spot.
Hopefully my alternator can handle the amp!

I personally like using the bolt for the rear seat cushion. Depending on where you are actually putting the amp, it keeps the ground nice and short.
Use that 4awg and run the big 3. You already have it. lol Ground wire should be the same size as the power.

My 4ga was too short. And at a longer distance, it's just not rated to carry that high of load. Lands out between the driver seat and rear seat lol. So instead of splicing it and making it longer, I have a 2ga wire coming today hopefully. and im going to have my distribution block at the end of that. Then 4ga into amp. So I should have enough 4ga wire left over to run a ground anywhere. My other ground cable wasn't long enough to reach much.

Re: comments on this ground spot for my amp??
Well everyone, I finally found a garage to use and some time to battle the cold and run everything together. And I thought I did a pretty bang up job. But when I connected the negative terminal back on the battery and fired the accord up. The amp didnt come on. Unfortunately I dont have a multimeter here do I will have to wait to find out where things went wrong. If it wasn't subzero temps here this would have been done before December. Haha but soon it will be alive I hope!

Re: comments on this ground spot for my amp??
My ground is only getting aRound 6 volts. At the actual ground and the terminal on the amp. The remote terminal is getting 12+volts and the distribution block is aRound 14v so I'm thinking its the ground right?
