Boston Acoustics FX-Series Fitment Q's for Civic Hatch
I am ready to replace the four stock speakers (2 door, 2 rear) in my EK Hatch. I have listened to my friends setup of Boston FX-series speakers and am convinced they would be a worthy upgrade.
First, I would like to confirm that these are the correct speakers for the car.
-(For Front Doors)-(6.5" speakers)-Boston Acoustics FX6-H (FX-6 is also offered, but I read that the "H" model is specifically for Hondas due to smaller needed mounting depth)
-(For Rear)-(6"x9" speakers)-Boston Acoustics FX93 (I figure that the money would be worth it on top of the FX92(2-way instead of 3-way))
I would like to know what type of work it would take to get these speakers installed in the car (mainly in terms of spacers/mounting kits/hardware) as I like doing all the work on my car, but have not yet done any speaker installs.
BTW, the prices that I have found on ebay are:
Boston FX6-H ($81 shipped)
Boston FX93 ($108 shipped)

usually you get the spacer when you buy the front speakers they should fit with the spacer on with no problem i dont think those speakers have a bigger muonting depth then the kappa's 2-3/4". o ya dont cut the oem wire harness go to best buy or circuit city and get the adapter for the wire harness to after market speaker the rear 6-9 should fit right in.

Yeah, use the FH6-H, it's not so much an issue of depth as it is an issue of mounting diamter. The standard FX6 are slightly oversized 6.5" which make them a POS to install in civics. As for rears, you mentioned your car's a hatch. Umm, in my experience most of them don't have factory rears installed. This means extra parts/work...

Re: Boston Acoustics FX-Series Fitment Q's for Civic Hatch (MechaniZm)
My 98 Hatch has rear 6x9's from factory. The only thing that worries me is whether the Boston 6x9's will fit in the same space as the stock speakers.
My friend had little trouble putting in Boston 6x9's in place of his stock 6x9's in his 98 Prelude.

Does anyone know for sure that the Boston FX6-H's will fit in the front doors?

the fx6h are shallow mounts designed for honda application.
the regular fx6s will require you to use a spacer ring since the basket taper is too wide.
the nx67s fit the best because of the shallow mount and taper because of the neodynium magnet.
