Amp Doesn't Work

For a while my speaker amp has been acting up. It would randomly stop playing music but it would stay on. Today I went and switched my sub amp to use it for the speakers (both 600w 2-channel amps) and when I hooked up the sub amp no sound at all came out no matter what i tried. Is the amp savable or should I just get a new amp and call it a day?

so your sub amp turns on but no sound comes out of your speakers?

if so are the speakers blown? get a 9 volt battery and tap the speaker wires on to the battery and see if you get a "pop" out of your speakers. if you don't then you know you need to replace your speakers or check the wiring going to the speaker.

The subs aren't blown, I hooked them up to the other amp to make sure. The wiring is fine, both ends of the wire is clean and there aren't and breaks or anything that could short out.

In order to say if the amp is worth fixing we really need to know what kind it is and how powerful. Most shops wont fix anything for less then $75 and its not uncommon to go twice that.

So I understand, you have 2 amps, both the same, one is running the subs, the other is running the highpass speakers, it was the highpass speakers that cut out, so you hooked up the amp you were using for the subs, [I assume the subs were not cutting out] to the highpass speakers, and you got no sound at all.

Did you hook the amp that was on the highpass speakers to the subs?

Or am I misunderstanding you? https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif 94

Yes I hooked up the amp from the highpass speakers, the one that was cutting out, to the subs. The amp that was hooked up to the subs, which wasn't cutting out, is now hooked up to the highpass speakers. Before the amp would cut in and out without losing power, now it seems like its cut out and wont cut back in.

Re: Amp Doesn't Work (tequilakid)

So the amp that was on the subs in now on the highpass speakers ans it's working ok, and the one that was on the highpass speakers is now on the subs, and the subs are not working at all? Is the amp, that was on the highpass speakers and cutting out, that is now on the subs, and not working at all, is the amp light on, on that amp?
BTW what kind of amps are they? https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmileo.gif 94
