Re: "The World Has and Never Will Require 4ws" Rywire/Bisimoto/HybridRacing
So two years ago I purchased a set of AZ Race H22 swap mount. Upon my first test fit I discovered that the rear mount did not fit... Then I asked a member of a prelude forum who put together the push to get these mounts made and found out that 88-89 and 90-91's are some how different and the AZ Race mounts are designed for the 88-89 and do not fit my 91. UNLESS you cut the mount brackets, yeah I'm not down with that. So I ordered mounts from Explicit Speed Performance and endured a 23 week wait for them. In the end, it was worth it, the quality, finish and fitment was much much better.
Explicit Speed mounts
I was never a fan of the polished mount look. I ordered black chrome as my choice of color.
The welding on the AZ Race mounts was horrible along with the finish...
Welds on the Explicit Speed mounts
Thats better.
Original hardware for the Explicit Speed
Had Frank hook it up. :bang:
now lets put the motor in.
First, the car had been sitting in the garage for awhile so it was dirty. Wizards cleaning products are by far the best you can use. I highly recommend Wizards. I shined up the bay before hand.
Had to protect the paint. Only had one minor touch.
I choose to go from the bottom. I found it much easier in my previous test fits when the bay was unpainted. The previous practice and help from my buddy Preston made this a breeze.
Checking things over
Note the rear mount needs to go on, and the front mount is integrated with the traction bar.
A few more shots for viewing pleasure.

Wow looks great man never been a fan of the ol' 3rd gen mainly because two of my buddies had them and they were and still are garbage but its because of there for or next to nothing in cost mods. But your 3rd gen is spotless keep it up man!
Will definitely pop in from time to time for a update on a different type of build thread not the same cars.

Not trying to get out of topic but what was the hardest part in shaving your engine bay? I consider the fact that it would be time consuming, and not to mention the extensive time in filling and sanding the body filler or glaze. I've never done nor attempted this before but I know how to MIG weld and do body work so like some output. Keep the updates coming, looking towards it.

Thanks Julio, You'll be receiving a call shortly
Thanks man
Do it, you will not be disappointed. Although it seems to be a South Dakota/Minnesota product. Haven't been able to find it else where.
Thanks Sean, we'll see where this takes the chassis. Not far I'm sure.
Thanks man
I will be at Summer IA yet again this summer. Hopefully this year with the car.

The hardest part was all the damn sanding... Not particularly hard but painstaking

Well, Eibach announced the meet will be May 19th.
I went ahead and purchased a spot for the event. Hopefully I can make the drive.
Car is much further along than what is posted here. Purchased the last of my big items today and a couple of smaller things. Should be on the ground here shortly!
Time to get to work.

What paint did you use on the engine? It looks much nicer than most paints I've seen.

Re: "The World Has and Never Will Require 4ws" Rywire/Bisimoto/HybridRacing
Next motor pull I think I am going to try and paint it in a booth with ppg paint. Can also bake the paint this way hopefully this will give a much better look and longer lasting finish.
It hasn't happened quite yet, lots of parts coming this week. Lots to do!
Stay tuned
I didn't convert the manual tensioner for a couple reasons. 1) When I did this kaizenspeed had not released their tensioner yet. 2) The motor is essentially factory, so my thought is the factory tensioner lasts at least 45k miles? I should be alright. I'm not sure how long this motor will stay in the car either. Bigger better things will happen.
