Re: Picking up where they left off. 56K warned. K20 EG turbo!!
Had some downtime in night class, so i got to work.
Took off the intercooler.
Removed the upper radiator hose and started labelling and unplugging pin connectors
Took off the rest of the intercooler piping.
Radiators off.
Shift linkage disconnected
Had to take off the alternator to get to the rest of the pin connectors.
Tape will save my life in the future.
F ed up the heater core, no biggy, ill be shaving that anyways
My growing box of parts.
Lookin pretty bare. Motor/Trans comes out tomorrow.

Nice build man. Can't wait to see the finished product! Don't let anybody talk less of the car because you bought it built, sometimes it's actually more fun fixing things the previous owner messed up on. I know I had a lot of fun when I bought a car the was ghetto wired, cause had it not happened I would have never learned how to wiretuck!

Took the axles out.
Hooked up the engine hoist and unbolted the motor mounts.
Cluster **** of wiring and brake lines
Started taggin up the engine bay to see how much welding and shaving im gonna be doing.
Brake fluid from the CMC and BMC have really been eatin away at the paint. Definatley be fixin any leaks before i paint.
Trailored it home, where it will sit for the winter.
Perfect for storage...
Tomorrow, ill be ordering up brake lines. Im gonna re-use the fittings. Got a flaring kit and a tubing bender. Since this is my first attempt at a line tuck, ill be picking up some heavy gauge wire that ill use to bend up and figure out what my lines will have to be before i start trying to bend them. I just have to figure out the line size and type of flare to use. Im sure some searching on here ill be able to figure it out. Im pretty sure i can just use 3/16th line, but ill look it up to be sure.

Im actually going to do the bay in championship white. Im planning on painting the whole car champ white eventually, so i figured i might as well do the bay in that color now. If i finish the bay before march, ill paint the entire car. If not, ill rock a different colored bay for next summer.

Re: Picking up where they left off. 56K warned. K20 EG turbo!!
Ive got a few reasons for not using stuff like "chasebays".
1. I like to do my own work and learn as i go.
2. I dont like relying on other people to get my stuff done, i have a deadline to meet and i dont like dealing with back order or other BS i usually deal with with custom made parts. If i dont meet the deadline, ill have only myself to blame.
3. I dont have the money for that stuff. The materials are very cheap and i have the resources and enough knowledge to do it all myself instead of gettin charges up the *** for the intense labor involved in it all.
Ive seen chase's work. Its simply a form of art and i love it. I get enough for buying a car that was already built, so from here on out, everything i can do, i will do. So line/wire tucks, body work, paint, engine work, ect. ill do myself.

Re: Picking up where they left off. 56K warned. K20 EG turbo!!
Wooh, big update coming at ya...
Got all my brake lines and tools packed up and got started.
Hydraulic Flaring kit savin me lots of time
My half assed drawing of the proportioning valve and brake lines
Pulled out the seats for more room
Took out the center console
No more dash
86ed the climate control and heater core
Another pile of parts
Time to Fab
Opened up a hole on the firewall for the 2 rear brake lines to go through
Reference pic so i dont forget how to put it back together
Bracket im not gonna use, so i cut it out to make room for the proportioning valve
Cut up the old bracket
Made the hole for the prop valve mount
mounted
Picked up some 16 gauge wire to use for a template to bend up the lines.
First line template made up
1 down, 5 to go.. Only took me an hour :sigh:
Done for the night, gotta head back to the parents house for the weekend tomorrow so ill be taking a short break until monday.
One of the MT ET streets is f*cked up. Ever since i mounted it, the thing is asking for 7.50 OZ of sticky weights. I measured the tire runout and the machine says its .30 out of spec, so im bringin it back to the shop i bought it from, i was told it should be warranteed.
Ill be starting thanksgiving break next week, so ill finish the line tuck then.

Re: Picking up where they left off. 56K warned. K20 EG turbo!!
Stuck in town for another night due to court in the morning. So why not do some more while i can
1st rear line is all connected, 2nd rear line flared with new fitting.
2nd line bent and routed.
Both lines to the rear are all finished.
Started workin on the line going to the front right brake hose, i tried to reuse the original metal line, just bent differently, it ofcourse was about 5 inches too short, so i fabbed up a new one.
All done with that one. 3 to go. Still have to do the left side to the brake hose, then both lines to the master cylinder.
Once i get all the lines made up, ill mark them, remove them, then take off the CMC, BMC, and booster as well as the harness and start to get to work on the bay.
Too busy watching the Hawks game, but theyre up 6-1 so i might get back to work.
