Default The official MFactory/Agile Concepts H1 car build

Hello everybody. My name is Guillaume Marceau (pronounced: gee-ohm mar-so) and I run the Official Team MFactory Workshop. We are based out of Bellingham, Washington and perform all of the in-house builds sent to MFactory. Apart from being out in the shop, we provide MFactory parts straight from our factory and are the customer service hotline as well. If you have any questions about our services or products check out the Team MFactory home site at http://www.teammfactory.com or give us a call at 1-360-738-8021.

I am a factory trained Honda / Acura Master Technician and have been working on Honda / Acura's for 16 years. Racing applications have always been my main focus and I believe that Honda's are an excellent platform to race with because of their overall balance and incredible efficiency. Whenever I have spare time I enjoy working on my 01 ITR or my 92 EG VX gsr-t, however due to our latest endeavor, my spare time is becoming quite rare.

Team MFactory's latest venture is building a regular civic hatchback into an H1 Honda Challenge race car!

The car starts out as a clean white hatchback CX previously owned by uc0083. He did a great job with getting this car started out right, doing a very clean job and sorting it out properly. He had Stripped the car down to bare essentials and then took the car to get some safety reinforcements fabricated as it was his trackday car. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to finish this project out and get it to where it needs to be. It starts out with a regulation 6 point roll cage to protect me and stiffen the chassis a little bit. The outside will be kept pretty simple as H1 regulations limit the amount of aerodynamic modification that can be done.

Just a D-Series in there for now while the motor is on the stand

The interior will remain pretty bare by keeping only the essentials. Just enough bracing to support the chassis without weighing it down.

We are retaining the heatercore for extra cooling capacity and to defrost in the event of a wet track day. We modified it a bit for less weight and space.

The power plant, a B18C5 Type R block

A freshly decked block with honed cylinder walls.

Moving inside the blue block are oversize USDM spec ITR pistons. Attached to the pistons are lightweight ITR rods. The Compression Ratio should be right around 12.6:1.

The internals have been balanced to 0.05g including a GS-R Crank, P73 pulley, Clutchmasters flywheel and an Exedy pressure plate.

And of course we will be running our own Mfactory 4.9 Final Drive in the transmission that will be shown in a future update.

We are waiting on the GS-R head to come back from Stewart Racing Engines where it's receiving a full race port/valve job. There is a set of Toda spec C Camshafts waiting to go in right when it gets here.

Running on R-compound tires at high speed may cause oil starvation so we are using a genuine Mugen baffled oil pan to keep the oil pick-up submerged. To give us extra oil capacity and keep the oil from boiling in 30-45 minute races, we will be running our very own Mfactory Oil Cooler Kit as well. This will surely help with any Endurance races that the car may compete in.

We are running JIC coilovers and are in the process of upgrading the rest of the suspension to MFactory components, our abundance of 5 lug wheels means we will run ITR 5 lug and rotors with Spoon twinblock calipers.

I will document the entire build to help everyone understand what goes into a car of this caliber. Several prototype MFactory pieces are being designed for this car so you'll know that when you buy MFactory products, you're getting quality race-tested parts.

Thank-you and please ask any questions you might have!

-Guillaume Marceau

This will be a good one to watch.

Now, develop a low final ratio (3.9 - 4.1 range) for the K-series transmissions.

the spoon calipers shown are twin block. Monoblock would require a different rotor - I think an s2000 sized rotor as the monoblocks are for teh s2000

Good eye thanks. Wrong pic up there. We are using OE itr rotors front and rear.
