my d13 turbo build
#1
boosted d13 – 1.3L Civic
Im reading some years here at ht but now I want to show off my boosted d13 from austria, europe:
STEP1:
It all started 2008 with a d13 minime. Yes, its a d13 - (1.3L engine, carburator). so changed the tank, fuel lines, z6 head, manifold and ecu and oem esi exhaust. i only changed the rear exhaust muffler and air filter and then i took it to a friend - the one and only doc (doctronic.at) who mapped it. The result was 122,3hp and i think that was really nice for a n/a d13 (stock = 75hp).
This was the time i started dragracing. best et was a 16.0 and this was not bad in the smallest dragrace category i was running.
At this moment i was infected. So i wanted to build something new...
STEP2:
A boosted d13. It all started as a low budget project. so i bought some used parts and with much help of my friends we put a used Garrett T25 on it
(oem nissan s13 turbocharger). Self built mini-ram manifold, downpipe and exhaust, 100cell catalytic converter, 450cc dsm injectors, running e85 - mapping again by doctronic. lowboost (around 7.25psi) on stock internals it made 189.9hp.
STEP3:
2012: After winning some dragraces in eastern europe - my opponents got also faster and faster – so it was time for a new step. After a long time of research i found a manufacturer for d13 rods. so another d13 built up. crower rods, bisimoto valve springs, arp studs, a new custom turbo manifold, straight flow magnaflow muffler, oil cooler, Garrett T28 (nissan s14), 750cc RC injectors, electronic boost controll, and a new mapping (23psi). The result was 326,6hp. it's very fun to drive because the t28 is nearly perfect for the small d13. Very nice to drive! The t28 seems perfect at the d13. I was running dragraces in hungary, slovakia, croatia, austria and germany.
This build is not built for drag racing only - its more a street and drag build.
2014/2015 i had a lot problems with wheel hop - so i needed 3 gearboxes(!) and now i have a mfactory lsd. but still wheelhop :-/
But 2015 i run my new personal record: 12.1
For my taste this setup is perfect to drive - but at drag races i need just a little bit more so....
THE NEXT (and maybe last) STEP is in progress
After 8 years driving and knowing so much upgrade steps on the d13 - its time for - maybe the last - upgrade.
Stay tuned!

Re: my d13 turbo build
did not post a long time here...
setup is complete and its running very well ...
built engine(new coated je pistons, arp headstuds, crower rods, new z6 head with bisimoto valve springs,...)
custom built ic piping
custom stainless steel 3" downpipe
dyno results were 403hp @ 27psi on axles
But the head gasket broke so i changed it and renewed the o-rings.
i went to the first races and got a constant 12.1 second on drag slicks and a 12.6 on street tires.
my new best time was 11.6 @ 119.3mph at a sticky track
but then i stopped going to drag races, because at the moment i have very bad issues with my suspension or maybe steering =(
it feels loose and unstable at higher speed. it feels like driving a boat.

Re: my d13 turbo build
thank you
Yesterday doctronic.at mapped it again to 30psi (2Bar) boost. Hope this will cut my 11.6 this year
I was not there this year - only as a visitor in zagreb because the suspension was very bad. Yes i want to continue if the car feels good to drive

Re: my d13 turbo build
I just wanted to say that you are a lucky man to live in Eastern Europe. The tall, dark haired, light eyed girls seem to be quite common out there am I right? Cool little D13 setup too.

Thank you for the picture, Josip!
Thank you. Laws are very strict, so i have to hide it I'm thinking of going back more oem look to make a real sleeper. but i like the style it has atm.
Last weekend i could reach a new personal best time of 11.568 @ 122.4mph in kiskunlachaza (hungary)

Re: my d13 turbo build
trying to reach a low 11 this season so i have to improve the setup.
some parts arrived: flex-fuel sensor, 1700cc bosch injectors, cop, TI 450lph in tank fuel pump
the current intercooler is much too small so i need to get a bigger one. thinking of a 23.5" length, 11.5" height, 3" thick. should fit well behind the bumper. what do you think?
more updates coming soon

Re: my d13 turbo build
Haven't updated this thread a long time. In the past year i could not race the car so it was time for some new upgrades
I painted the intercooler black to get it more sleeper style. I also installed the new fuel pump, but decided to go with 1200cc injectors, which fit p'n'p with the oem fuel rail.
The EFR 6758 is now equipped with a turbosmart dual port wastegate. Some other parts like a DC2 brake master cylinder with custom stainless steel break lines, a bigger radiator with a slim fan and shroud and some other parts like lower control arms are installed now. The head got fully built, ported and is now equipped with a rocket motorsports cam, valves and retainers. Some parts in the engine bay were replaced with powdercoated ones ... and i cleaned my dc2 recaros the first time after some years
I replaced my 16" ultraleggeras with 15" ATS DTC with beefy Toyo R888Rs. They have the same weight :/ but now i can run semi slicks on the street.
In the next few weeks the new setup is finished and will be mapped. I'm very excited how it will run now

Re: my d13 turbo build
Man I love your build. :D
Do you plan to race in Croatia again?
Btw, how much did you pay for cams?
Who is going to map your car, doctronic maybe?
