Well, as some of you may know, I did a rapid part out of my hatch to make way for the new baby.

This baby.

Yep, I got a Del Sol. On April 23rd, I got over the hatch. It hasn't been what I've wanted for a while now, I just think I was ignoring that little itch. I was even planning to get another hatch to transfer all my parts onto so it would be 'perfect,' but even then I wouldn't be happy. I came across the Sol while searching for '1997 Civic' on Craigslist. As soon as I saw the ad, I fell in love.

I called the guy after sleeping on the idea and having it bounce around in my mind all the next day. When we were driving out to look at it, it was already as good as sold. I barely even needed to look at it. It ran perfect, it looked great for it's age ... it was just right.

I couldn't resist, so I took some pics on the drive back home.

And once I got home, I wasted absolutely no time removing the Alpine deck and installing my beloved Gathers HU.

The next day, I drove down to Portland after work to pick up some B+G S3 ITR-Spec coilovers with some ITR LCA's.

After I got it all put together with the coils and the wheels. I also threw on my CTR exhaust after bending the hangers out and forward to match the Del Sol hangers.

After I was satisfied, I drove to the torn-down 'Up The Creek' Bar+Grille in Shelton to take some pictures.

A couple days later, I got my WINK mirror in from Amazon and installed it. Right now, I have no visors because you have to take out the huge rubber "non-visor" pieces. I'll be getting the EDM visors later.

Took this nifty shot while I was waiting to pick up Amy's car from paint.

I then put on my JDM VXi full decal set, including the rarely-used "Two Way Paradise" wing panel decals.

Last week, I installed my ASR Grape Drank subframe brace and JDM ITR sway bar.

Then that weekend, I picked up a new heart.

05/22/09

05/24/09
Installed GDM/EDM visors and JDM SiR-II steering wheel with uber rare factory leather wrap.

05/29/09
Made some L-brackets for my Wink mirror that work with my EDM visors.

06/03/09

Had some fun with the editing. Very surreal feel to the colors that I enjoyed, sort of a Halloween-ish feel.

06/08/09
SRR Ignition Panel modded to fit a 12v socket and my Spoon VTEC controller.

Gotta go back to my cousin's shop tomorrow to pick some up, after I finish running the RCA's and power up through the car. Going to go around the rear firewall, and then do the typical "down the body seam" ****. Go up behind the glovebox with the RCA's and out the ECU grommet to the battery. Used flat black for the power and gloss black for the ground.

08/02/09
Finished up my subwoofer install and got the deck / amp all tuned up and sounding great no matter what I'm listening to.

I rerouted that ground cable to inside the rear firewall because there was a M5 washer bolt just inside, and it made the operation just that much cleaner. Ran the RCA's under the personal trunk, and then up the center console, and ran them with the deck harness, and tucked it into the flexo around it, so it stays nice and tight and doesn't rub on anything.

Final product:

08/10/09
Made my false floor today out of 1/8" hardboard. Used the original particle board as a template, then cut an 20" x 12" trough. Measured out the sub from there, and ended up with a box about 20" x 16" with an arc at the top. Lined the underside edges of the box with 1/16" x 1/4" foam strips, cut the corners of the fabric, cut a small square out, and folded it over. Used heavy-duty webbing adhesive to stick it to the underside, and then used the fabric I cut out in conjunction with no-slip webbing to make pads.

08/12/09

08/29/09
Oldschool MINE's Racing shift **** I got off an S13 shell for $5. The chrome was chipping off, so I sanded it down to the nickel. Polished it up, but didn't like the look. Took it down to 400g and then to 800g to give it a brushed look.

09/03/09

Before I get seventeen people coming out of the woodwork to tell me how much Sony XPLOD decks suck -- try this deck out first hand. I was VERY surprised. It's got quite a good sound quality, decent preouts, parametric EQ, and has the best iPod interface I've seen on a single-din. It can scroll through artist lists and skip tracks real time.

09/12/09

09/16/09
Got my Spoon Street installed. Woo woo, it sounds good.

09/26/09
Finally....

And I don't think I'm going to candy the lip. I like this WAY too much.

10/11/09

Got a new boob job. LOL!

Shifted them over as far as they could, and filled the old holes with nylon plugs.

10/17/09
Finally found the perfect fabric.

11/09/09
I actually got up off my lazy *** and took some pictures of the car. Feels like it's been so long.

And a little dSoc love.

11/17/09
Mmmmmm. Got my EDM electronic leveling glass headlights in from Amsterdam today. Also wired up a 93-95 AUX switch for my foglights to make room for the leveling switch.

12/13/09
Happy Winter SolStice!

12/19/09
Woohoo. Wired up my city lights and rewired my corners.

Before:

Corner lamps wired as marker lights and signals; City light unwired.

After:

Corner lamps wired as signals; City lights wired as markers.

Headlights / Foglights on.

01/25/10
These were tooooo big.

Now they're for sale.

02/13/10
Did my gauge lighting.

I still need to get a green film for my clock, and also pull my radio so I can do the climate control lights.

Before:

After:

And my Polarg B1 VIP Hybrid bulbs in my map lights.

These ****ers are BRIGHT. Like, I am used to colored bulbs just being pretty, but they put out a TON of usable light.

02/16/10
Playing with the new cam, getting the hang of it.

Realized I was shooting at ISO400 and was unhappy with most of them.

02/19/10
Got my 93 dash in today.

02/20/10
My ITR intake manifold and Vision Motorworks 65mm throttle body with FITV bypass. :bang:

And my BNIB 94-95 del Sol VTEC B-pipe. They're SILVER!

Oh yeah, and Amy just ordered me a present. ONE, yes, one single Work Equip wheel. I mean. What a bitch, only ordering ONE. Come on, lame.

Started cleaning and assembling the swap today...

Need to use some heavy steel wool on the dizzy and see if I can get those spots off. Annoying.

02/28/10
Haven't stripped the letters off yet, still too tacky to risk it. *nervous*

Deschutes Brewery Burgandy FTW.

Got my Spoon **** today.

03/09/10
The brain!

The heart!

The .... small intestines?

03/16/10

MY CAR RUNS!!!!! SEAKING **** YEAH!

Like I'm talking perfect. Only hitch is I still need that OBD2 IACV, so every once in a while, the idle will stick at 3K (instead of being down around 1K) and I'll have to blip the throttle to make it go back down.

But seriously, my car gets up and goes now. Compared to the Y7, this is like driving a REAL car. That MF 4.9 makes it really fun, it takes me about a block under normal driving conditions to go from 1st to 5th aahahahha.

Seriously jazzed right now. It's like being on coke, except without the need to solve the world's problems and hug someone and "Go out and like ... DO SOMETHING MAN!"

03/17/10
Teaser what?

03/18/10

03/21/10
Ah, the heart is beating.

06/03/10

[b]08/15/10]

Picked up a new driver's seat ...

And in it goes. Removed the passenger Recaro for weight and comfort. Oddly enough, ****er's were heavy. Probably because they were an OEM Recaro.

08/18/10

Redid my valve cover today -- matte textured fade from bright blue to purple. Polished letters and such.

Supplies

Prepped

Textured

Fade

Finished!

N/A Is back!

I got rid of the supercharger on Saturday. Was sick and tired of all the issues and the garbage that's associated with JRSC kits. The brackets fit poorly, it used Allen head bolts (which were of a poor grade), the crank pulley couldn't use an OEM tool, the power it made was NOT impressive, it went through belts, had massive heat soak, blow-by issues, burned through charger gaskets (ended up using Loctite 510 for ****'s sake!), etc etc etc. Sold the kit at a profit though, even considering the money I put into repairs / parts.

So I'm back to naturally aspirated. Snagged a Weapon R header (Mugen 4-1 copy) for DIRT cheap, sold the Comptech to a friend. Still running on Neptune RTP with my AEM UEGO, so I'll be able to squeeze a few more drops out of the semi-stock motor. Got some goodies coming in the mail soon, so beginning of September is going to be fun.

Parts On Order:
* OEM Timing Belt, h2o pump, tensioner, spring, valve cover gasket
* EG6 / EG2 SiR Airbox
* OEM Breather Pipe Setup (metal piping for valve cover breather and FITV)
* CTR N1 Enduro crank pulley + belt
* JDM <super secret / undecided lol> 2.5" Header
* BLOX 2.5" Test Pipe

I'm stoked to actually DRIVE the thing again. It's been down more than it's been on the road, and I'm sick of it. I bought this car to have fun, not to swear at and resent.

09/23/10

Finished the timing belt job, only to have my Demon take a ****. New one from Moates should be here about the end of the month.

Got a goodie at the Nissan showroom today, TougeFactory purple ****. Retapped to 10x1.5 and installed. Inexpensive, and nicer than the BLOX *****. They have a flat bottom instead of being a full sphere.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. With hella flush, stance, and whatever is "in" now it will soon fade away. But simple and clean will be forever. Good job man.

Thanks for all the compliments, guys. Finally got it back on it's toes tonight. New Demon board came in last night, repinned the EGR (D12) to my wideband, and it's rolling like a champ. I'd go out and do a little street tuning, but I'd rather finish this bottle of wine and watch a movie.

Don't drink and street tune.

Wasn't too awful hard. I just popped out the whole air vent assembly, took the trim ring off, ground off any tabs inside, cut off a bit of the back side (where it would meet up with the ducting), and massaged it in. Took a few tries, (fit, grind, refit, grind, etc), but it came together nicely. I've still got the modified cup if you want it. All you'd need is your own 60mm gauge and the trim ring from your stock air vent.
