95 integra gsr sedan - db8 build.
Using this to document the build process. I bought the car for $750 at the end of August. I haven't owned a Honda since 06-07 due to theft attempts and didn’t have the funds to build one then either. So, I saw a gsr sedan for cheap and decided to buy it. Parted out my Sentra and began ordering parts for the Integra.
First day home.
1st, the starter and vehicle speed sensor was shot. Got the starter rebuilt and bought a used vss. vtec works now and no cel.
Next up, was to figure out what was bent in the front suspension. Disassembled it and really couldn't tell without comparing it to something good.
Hmotorsonline posted up and story on Instagram selling dc2 control arms for $25. Ordered them, front control arms that were on the car were bent. Parts that I ordered began to show up:
Hardrace full bushing kit, new ball joints, tierods, progress coilovers, endlinks, etc. The plan is to autocross and track it. So I wanted the least amount of suspension mods, but if it had to be replaced then replace the parts with what I really wanted to in the long run.
After suspension was done, got the windshield replaced, then moved on to the exhaust side of things which is where I'm currently at. Snapped two exhaust manifold studs. Tried 1/8 milwaulkee titanium drill bit and screw extractor. Failed. Bought helicoil kit, kinda failed but it works enough to hold a stud. Bought dewalt 1/8 drill bit and used the screw extractor on the second one. Done with milwaulkee drill bits. About a year ago I need to drill some rotors to convert my sentra from 4 lug to 5 lug. Same issue the drill bit was trash.
I haven't really addressed the interior. Remove armrest \ ebrake cover and shifter trim, etc and vacuumed. The goal is to get the car mechanically sound and pass inspection. I have an autox this Sunday that I'm trying to get to which is the last one for the season.
Over the winter will be get the body \ paint take care of. Still a fitment issue up front due to the minor accident from the previous owner.

Re: 95 integra gsr sedan - db8 build.
Update.
Suspension wise the car feels good. I signed up for a track day in March plus I will be autocrossing it this year. From there I will continue to work on the suspension as I get a feel for the car. Besides coilovers, hard race bushing all around, and all new tie rods \ balljoints, everything is pretty stock.
Engine - Daily'd the car for about 2 weeks and notice a good amount of oil being burned. Also after a pull I could smell it severly. Oil was everywhere on the block. Replaced distributor oring and vtec solenoid gasket. Still had oil coming out what seemed to be the head gasket. So while searching facebook market place, I found a freshly rebuilt b20b short block with ycp high comp pistons for sale for cheap. Bought it and started the motor build. Bought engine stand and hoist. Remove the head took it to machine shop for refresh. Bought new o-rings (rocker rail pins), dowel pin and o-ring for center of the head. New cam seals, blox dual valve springs and skunk2 stage 1s. As for the block, new oil pickup gasket, oil pan gasket. Gates gsr waterpump and timing belt. Will use stock b20b oil pump. Golden eagle 84mm lsvtec kit with head gasket. Will reuse the clutch and flywheel since the previous owner stated he just did all that work and it felt pretty good while I was dailying it. Just needs a clutch slave. Below will be a summary of the build so far.
Engine
Refreshed (3 angle valve job, new oem seals) p72 head.
blox dual valve springs
stock retainers
skunk 2 tuner 1 cams
skunk2 or blox intake manifold
skunk2 70mm throttle body
jg cam gears
1320 toda rep header
arp head studs
golden eagle lsvtec kit with headgasket
b20b short block
ycp 12.5.1 84mm pistons
stock crank and rods
arp rod bolts
Tuning
Purchased moates demon v2
Plan to use honda tuning suite or buy neptune.
Still need to get a wideband and find a tuner lol. Hopefully should have the motor back in a couple of weeks and fired up.
Will post pics soon.

Re: 95 integra gsr sedan - db8 build.
Thanks. If I keep this car I want the oem 94-97 front end and stock fat five wheels. I want it to look as oem as possible. But It depends I might just get a 92-95 civic dx sedan shell and swap everything over in the future. We will see....

Thanks. A guy I work with told me about zep degreaser. Still had to scrub a little with a scotch brite pad, but it worked great.

Completed the motor as far as I could on the engine stand. Getting ready to put it on a dolly, install flywheel, clutch, tranny, etc. Header is up there for photo purposes.

Re: 95 integra gsr sedan - db8 build.
Update: Got the motor fired.
Had a fuel leak and weird noise. Thought it was the block, turned out to be the front bumper reinforcement bar.
Let it idle for about 10 min.
Started seeing steam and mist coming through spark plug wire on cylinder 1. There was water in 1 and 3 and a little bit of ice cream under the oil cap. Began taking off the head, some of the studs were not at 80 ft lbs. Some were in the 60s. Ordered a cometic gasket. The golden eagle gasket seemed fine but I used some hondabond in certain areas when installing it. In the process of removing the lube from the head stud holes. Will install studs dry this time.

Re: 95 integra gsr sedan - db8 build.
She's back together. Installed Moates Demon v2, using Honda Tuning Suite, uploaded a Basemap and fired her up. She's rich but I drove her around the block with extremely low revs. I will be getting her tuned in the next couple of days.

I will paint the valve cover once all this is done. I bought the vht wrinkle black, paint stripper etc. Just needed to work out the mechanical issues 1st.

Re: 95 integra gsr sedan - db8 build.
A little disappointed but learned a lot and the car didn't blow up lol (I know the dyno is just a tuning tool, numbers don't matter but.....) While breaking the motor in on the dyno, it was having cooling issues. Had to take the thermostat out. Had a hard time getting the car up to temp without the thermostat.. Each pull, the dyno operator would run the car for 1:30 minutes to get the car up to temp. Stock fuel system ran, ran out of injector around 8k. Made 186 and 139 wtq with power still climbing. Pretty much need bigger intake and longer, injectors, probably bigger exhaust and degree the motor. They didn't want to play with cam gear settings since the motor wasn't degree'd.
