89 Crx ground up, lots of boost build!
So I've owned many honda's, expecially crx's. I've kept my eye out on the certain crx with no accidents. Test driving a customers car at work down some side streets and there she sat.. Waiting for me to buy her. Offered 400.00 for her, and the owner said 800.00. Long story short I still got it for 400.00. So follow along, hopefully you enjoy the build!
CURRENT STATE:
Arrival at the shop, removed fenders, hood, windshield.
Stripped her down nothing, removed rear quarter glass, all of interior, motor, trans, harness, dash. Everything, and moved her into the body shop
Roof has some dents...
Shaved the intenna..
Few more dents.
Sand Blasted the engine bay, I'm going to Fab. a plate to covor the firewall, weld up all the seems, holes, I want a shaved engine bay. One of a kind.

Primer
Guide Coat..
Primered the rear bumper, plan on using Exospeed or strada front fenders and bumper.
Removed all trim glass and layed a fresh coat of primer. I have all new OEM honda trim for the rear hatch.
Doors are stripped and a coat of primer, blocked, guide coated and wet sanded..

So the hood ended up having a few dents... haha dang it!
A little bit of glazing puddy, primer filler, block sanding, guide coat, wet sand and she is ready for paint.

A few Things I've collected.
Gsr head, skunk2 valves, supertech guides, supertech keepers, omni power retainers, skunk2 pro2 cams with skunk2 cam gears, Ported.
Got a rywire harness.. Of course before they started selling them dirt cheap : (
Hasport shift linkage...
And course the tools that make it happen!

So I had to lay some primer down to keep everything from rusting. But I pulled the cross member, I have to re-inforce it to keep it from bending in half where the motor mount sits. Anyone have any idea's?
Some more grinding to do and some puddy but its looking better!

Thanks!! I'm going to work on the engine bay some more this weekend. Crazy amount of work and time already spent on just the bay. But its worth it all to me, thanks for the support!

firewall plate looks good, however ive seen people cut a large section of the firewall out and weld in a flat sheet like your cover plate, thus creating a newer flatter portion of the firewall. Just my .02 so you dont have to worry about mount issues or intake clearence. great build thus far

Ive already mocked up the mount, no issuies there. As well as my intake, still clears about a inch. Yea, lots of ways it can be done, still turned out good.

Hopefully you left a little room between the firewall and the plate you welded on, it might rub and squeak if not. If they're touching you could drill holes in the new plate and plug weld them together. Just a my 2cents. Nice progress!

Yea that crossed my mind as well. But it's welded solid to the firewall, it has to vibrate to make a noise. And I'm also going to fill the space with something, haven't decided as to what yet. Maybe a foam or something followed by some dynomat to help get rid of road noise.

Finished the firewall plate as far as welding. I laid down some puddy so I can make it even. After I sand everything down and lay some primer it will look great! Here is the progress so far, slow and steady.
And I decided to remove the old sound deadening material. I didn't use dry ice like ive seen done. I used my rubber mallet and it all broke up. I guess because its so old. Took 5 min.

The DA helped me straighten out the plate pretty quick, well where it could get too.. The rest is left for me to do by hand.

I want a clean Engine bay, notice there is no seams or holes anywhere else? I mean its not a need. I just wanted to do something diffrent.
