'00 EBP EM1 SLOW-Build from the Lone Star State!
So, I have been a member on H-T for a few years now and have had my fair share of Hondas up until this point (as well as my old IS300 and a few sportbikes), but have never sat down to make a build thread for any of my cars.
(a few of my previous rides)
(a few of my previous rides)
I wanted to start a little thread for my car to sort of document and track my progress on my 2000 Civic Si, which i have so tenderly named "EMMA." I am expecting this to be a SLOW build, therefore i will be posting a lot of pics to keep people somewhat interested (since people hate to read lol), as well as to keep a personal record for myself. I never intend on selling this thing so she will stay with me to the end. (STILL A BETTER LOVE STORY THAN TWILIGHT) There will be LOTS OF PICTURES, so if you dont like pictures then i suggest you STAY AWAY!
INTRO
Ever since I purchased my first Civic when I was 16 years old, i have always had my eyes set on getting a 99-00 EBP Si but could never find a clean one or just afford a decent one at that. Well, i just finished college and got myself a big boy job so now i finally have a little disposable income in order to purchase one of my DREAM CARS.
One day, I was browsing through Craigslist and happened to come across a 1 owner, stock and unmolested, clean title, rust free (one of the perks of living in Texas) 2000 EBP Si that was located about 4 hours away from me.
The post had only been up for about 3 hours and had no phone number listed (I HATE THIS ****), so i had to email the owner and wait for a response. A few hours later, i got a reply back from the owner with a telephone number to call them at. I called the number, and a lady answered the phone! She said that she was moving to New York and wouldnt be able to bring the car with her, so she needed to sell it! She told me that there for 5 other people that had contacted her to look at the car since she posted it, but i assured her that i would be on my way immediately with cash in hand to come take a look.
Despite having to wake up at 5am the next day for work, I grabbed a buddy of mine and we set off to take a look at this gem. 4 hours later, we arrived at the location. I was amazed to see that an older Asian lady was the owner! She had bought the car new and had meticulously maintained the car since she bought it. We agreed upon a price, she left with a stack of cash and I set off with my dream car!
Now, enough talking. On to some pictures!
Even still has the OEM Radio!
Not sure what was up with the non-Si headrest, but that will be changed soon enough.
and a pic of the bay (lots of dirt and grime when i picked up the car)
And this is where we will begin the build thread.
I have owned the car for a few months now, and will be posting updates periodically from the time i purchased it until how it sits currently. I LOVE this car, and it runs and drives flawlessly!
When i purchased her, i bought it with the intentions of "keeping it stock and just daily-ing the car". (That lasted for a total of a week tops hahaha). I got bit by the modification bug, so I will be doing a few things here and there to her and just keeping all of the original parts in storage in case i ever want to put her back to stock.
Hope you guys enjoy, keep your eyes peeled for updates in the near future!

Congrats! That is a CLEAN EM1!
I had that exact feeling when I found my 92 GS-R. Wanted one since I was 16, bought one at 25.

And nice man, the VSM one right? I remember many late nights hours spent reading through every page of your EM1 build!

Re: '00 EBP EM1 SLOW-Build from the Lone Star State!
So, before i bought my Si, i had a bone stock 1996 Civic Dx hatchback with 296,xxx miles as my daily. I drove that thing for 2 years as a daily beater, and was honestly one of the best and most reliable cars i have EVER OWNED. One of my good buddies needed a car, and since I had the Si and the hatchback, I decided to let it go and let him buy it off of me. It was a bitter sweet moment, me and the hatch had been through so much **** together. At least she is in good hands now
When I got my EM1, it was missing the rear "Si" trunk emblem, so I headed to my local Honda STEALership and picked one up.
Also came across a pair of OEM Honda license plate frames. From my understanding, these were made only in 2005 for corporate Honda employees and were never intended to be sold to the public. I had to get a pair for Emma ha.
badge and frame installed
installed front plate frame and also removed the grille badge

Re: '00 EBP EM1 SLOW-Build from the Lone Star State!
Shortly afterwards, I got an invite from a few friends of mine to take a camping trip down right outside of Austin, TX. Took my 4x4-status Si offroad to get to the campsite. She is no trailer-queen, thats for sure. Weather was too perfect so i quickly obliged.
WHEN PIZZA IS LIFE
Had a blast that weekend. Good times with good friends. Deff a nice break from the usual 9-5 grind.
(my buddy, probably still drunk from the night before lmao)
Well, after my little trip I came home and began accumulating a few odds and ends for my Si. I am a HUGE stickler for details so the little things are what bother me the most.
I was considering buying OEM foglights for my car, but decided to put that idea on hold since i kinda like how the bumper looks like without the foglights. I came across a Classy Grey (Type K/Dark Grey) OEM foglight switch for realllly cheap, so i scooped it up in the event that i decide to buy install foglights in the future. It is discontinued now and is a little difficult to come across so i grabbed it.
INSTALLED
Picked up a pair of EM1 headrest to replace the non-Si headrest that came with the car when i bought it.
INSTALLED
SO MUCH BETTER AHHHHHH
Picked up a BNIB OEM CTR shift boot and was also gifted a Skunk2 shift **** from my best friends old EK coupe.
Some JDM smell good stuff. Love how perfectly it fits underneath the E-brake handle
And then a OEM cupholder insert. The 99-00 cupholders are AWEFUL (damn the Japanese engineer that thought it would be a good idea to design them that way), and after having a few drinks tip and spill all in my floor, i hunted one down and threw it in my car. It doesnt solve the issue 100%, but is deff a big improvement for anyone who is having the same kind of issue. They can be found for around $15-$20 dollars.
The wiper blade arms were beginning to look a little tired too, so i removed them and gave them a quick refresh with a little bit of trim paint.
I noticed too that the passenger seat would not slide back or forward. I took a look underneath and noticed that the seat was missing the wire that went from one rail to the other. (which i so masterfully drew in red for you guys haha)
Nabbed one at the local junkyard for $2, threw it in, and the seat was working as good as new!
Found this too while digging around at the junkyard - OEM 96-00 Civic Service manual. Couldnt believe it when they told me it was only $5! What a great find!
They may seem insignificant, but its the small things in life that count Have some more interesting updates coming soon, so stay tuned! Thanks for all the love so far! :b eer:

What an awesome feeling it is to have a car so immaculate like that. Hope you keep her forever. Definitely a classic.
