Color: 681 Weizengelb
This color was used from 1979-1985 Mercedes-Benz cars, like this one:
The pictures really don't do the color justice. I had some trouble with water in my lines and it shows in a few spots . I was also unable to effectively cover some spots (like the backs of the shock towers) because I couldn't maneuver the gun very well. The worst spot is on the top of the shock tower. I was going to redo that whole area but I'm gonna say eff it for now and fix it later once I have the car up and running. It's really not that bad but I keep benchmarking my work on these show cars that I see on this site! I'm going to wetsand the easy-to-reach/see places once the paint has been given enough time to cure. In the end, I did a pretty good job for this being the first thing I've ever sprayed!
edit-the pics make the paint appear dull, but it's pretty bright n shiny in person!
Now that I have a color picked, it's time to spray the rest and then pick something bright for the wheels! I originally wanted J's Racing teal/turquoise but now I may go with a purple or something else.

It's just where the wires run for the power locks/windows/etc. I just cut a slit in the boot and ran my wires out of that and I'm going to seal it back up with epoxy or something of the sort.
edit-There's a pic on page 1.

That's what it looked like. My fenders don't have side markers and I never saw it with those seats. Sad for the car huh?

Yeah that can't be the same one. In fact, I know this car had a blue interior because the guy wants me to buy it from him lol. I like those side skirts though...

its crazy what happens to a car once you sell it, thats why i could never bring myself to sell my DA, seen to many of my friends hard work get trashed, and beat then parted out...
if the time came i needed money i would strip my da and store it at my dads shop lol

Last night, I pulled the tape from the bay and installed some of the easier-to-do things like the prop valve, fuse box, etc. After I got bored with that I taped off my jams and sprayed them up. I was working outside and as soon as the paint hit the surface, all these little nats just kamikaze'd right into it! I put several coats down in hope that I can said those little effers off. Tonight, I'm going to snag a quart of black rustoleum and spray all of the little brackets and things like that. I'll grab the camera this time around.

Ok, so I forgot the camera, again. I've become a little obsessed with the siphon-fed gun and went ahead and bought a gallon of rustoleum primer and also a gallon of black. I should be set of those two items for several years to come.. Still, didn't cost much less than I would have spent on spray paint. I sand blasted then primed my brake booster, fuel filter bracket, battery tray and bracket, and a few miscellaneous brackets that hold brake lines, hoses, etc. I'm sure I didn't find them all so I'll be doing the others later. The jams are dry now and look pretty good. The orange peel is minimal and most of the bugs will sand out easily. I also sprayed a test piece (filler panel) and it came out really well, besides the areas that I know I screwed up by experimenting. I'm re-evaluating my choice to have the car sprayed and am now considering doing it myself again. I don't know what to do! Pics tomorrow, hopefully.
