Default Are Type R & GS-R oil pumps the same? Yes they are!

Ok, for starters my dumb *** bought a gsr oil pump not paying attention. it was such a good deal I overlooked the small details...like the part number on the box. the ad listed it for a b18c5.

my question is can I use it safely. Im conserned I may exceed its rotational limit. or that it will not provide enough pressure.

yeah i know...I found out like two minutes after I posted. the guy at the local parts department said that oil drive gears were diferent sizes...so I assumed there were two different pumps. but come to find out he was wrong, obviously. thanks for all the post though.

Did you even read the post? was this post even necessary? no. but thanks anyway.

Just to clarify, I knew that the pump would bolt on and work...my concerns were with the oil drive gear being sufficient for my application. I have figure it out know, so thanks for the posts.

There is a ton of info on here about building an LS-VTEC, use the search function and just type in LSVTEC and you'll get a bunch of good threads.

I find when that it's on a case-by-case basis. That might be why we don't see a single answer on this topic

I find that it's best to change if 1) you have a truly contaminated supply from say, a blown engine, or similar damage.

Or if 2) building a brand new engineer after a pump is over 10 years old... At least from my experience
