Troubleshooting valve lash issues: Brian crower stage 2 non vtec
Hi, the valve lash of brian crower stage 2 non vtec say 0,06' intake and 0,08' exhaust, but with those specs when the engine is in temp ideal, continues to make noise and does not perform as it should.
I have decided 0,03' intake and 0,04' exhaust and the car is complety different!
does not make noise in hot and is more fast!
So, why crower say those specs?
Thanks!

first off I hope to god you didn't set your lash to .060 intake and .080 exhaust as you just said in your post.
it should be .006 intake .008 exhaust so mite want to double check your feeler gauges also make sure there thousands of a inch and not mm
lastly always set lash hot as the valve swell when hot

Other motor, fastest
I have 404-2 and 405A cams, and I will do the same

That is really tight for a flat rocker arm to camshaft lobe clearance... once up to operating temperature, there is little space left for an effective oil film to keep the parts from chewing on each other. I am surprised that you aren't getting a miss after the engine is warmed up from the valve lash being too tight... but if it works, more power to you. I recommend two things: (1) Pull the valve cover off and inspect your cam lobes and rocker pads OFTEN and (2) run some type of zinc additive (ZDDP).

I tell you , i roll in 3 gear from 50 to 140 1.3 seconds less, same day same T same road, and that's some hp more. I did not need to do a test with a timer to appreciate the change in motor behavior, you can try it for yourself
