skunk2 stage 2 cams versus buddy club 4 cams
they share somewhat similar specs, but the advertised duration for both cams are measure differently.
which cams have more duration/ are bigger? i'm just going to assume the bigger one has more potential for power since both profiles are proven to make power https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif |
Re: skunk2 stage 2 cams versus buddy club 4 cams (EVOL)
I understand what your saying by similar specifications, but the BC4 are in a entirely different region of power potential compared to the skunk2 stage2.

Re: skunk2 stage 2 cams versus buddy club 4 cams (goforbroke)
not from what i've seen.

Re: skunk2 stage 2 cams versus buddy club 4 cams (EVOL)
DonF had this to say:
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by DonF »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Why would they do that? The bc-4 vtec lobes are sk stg2s , the ex lobe is a Toda C on the primarys. Or atleast that is what my dial indictor said when I degreed them. The Skunk Pro 3 has more duration than either @ .040 so I would guess it would be a new grind.</TD></TR></TABLE> I would say talk to DonF or Tbone to get the skinny. |
Re: skunk2 stage 2 cams versus buddy club 4 cams (b19coupe)
i would also like to know the answer, to this man's question. i'm trying to pick between these two cams, as we speak https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif

Re: skunk2 stage 2 cams versus buddy club 4 cams (smokey2.0)
The BC4s will have more mid range but the same top end, if the vtec lobes are the same as DONF states. So the BC4s will have more area under the curve.

have you tried the comparison yourself on a particular engine combo? what setup did you see this on whether the 2 cam grinds yield a similar curve or not? https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif |

Re: skunk2 stage 2 cams versus buddy club 4 cams (EVOL)
Not really sure if this counts, but Tbone did a dyno pull with the BC4's versus the S2S3's and the BC's KILLED the skunks. I am under the assumption that the S2S2's wouldn't make as much power as the stage 3's......so maybe this answers your question?? https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Re: skunk2 stage 2 cams versus buddy club 4 cams (clean rice)
the BC4's are the way to go. better mid and top end.
|
Re: skunk2 stage 2 cams versus buddy club 4 cams (slo blue)
will they last as long though?

actually i've got confirmation that the bc4's will make more midrange/low-end, and the same high end. thanks donf https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif |
I agree that the BC4's are the way to go. Not only do they have more low/mid power and the same top end hp, but since the transition between the low cam and the high cam is not as dramatic and the s2s2, the bc4 will also have less valvetrain wear which the skunks are known for.

Re: (Viper8L488)
I noticed that a lot of people are saying the BC4 have the same top end as the skunk2 stage2, but didn't Tbone's dyno make it clear that the BC4 had way more top end then the skunk2 stage2. Does anyone have the measurements of the two different cams where comparing?
|
Re: (goforbroke)
Well on Tbone's graph he compared the BC4's to S2S3's and the BC's SMOKED them in every rpm range. It seriously made the skunks look like garbage http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif

Re: (clean rice)
skunk2stage2 is a totally different cam than their stage 3.
|
Re: (EVOL)
Yeha I realize that, but wouldn't you think that in a big 2.+ liter motor with 13.6 compression that the stage 3 would make more power than the stage 2?

Re: (EVOL)
will portflow valvesprings work with BC4? Also, what time of comprssion is recommended for BC4?

Re: (EVOL)
Nice explanation. If the S2S2's would make more power in Tbone's motor, then why would he run S2S3's over them??? He ran the S2S3's in his car, then tested the BC4's and they blew them away. So again, explain.

explain why you think skunk2 stg3 cams would make more power than their stage 2?? do you know their specs?? what's your explaination: higher stage = more power? i've seen dyno's where skunk2 stg3's get killed by other cams that have been beaten by skunk2 stg2's. i said ask tbone didn't i? why, because he has personal experience. so go ask someone who can give you your "nice explaination." go ask tbone. thanks. |
