You should port and polish your engine not yourself j/k

Well if you want to learn how to do it then more power to you. Just make sure you learn from someone good.

I have the equipment in my engine performance class. Ported/polished my b16 head and installed ITR valvesprings. It takes time, patience and control. A beginner should only polish and not mess with the ports.

do you have a bench flow machine. If not let the peeps who has a bench flowing machine do your work so the flow rate is the same in all of the port.

if you look...i believe it is number 2 or number 3 cylinder which runs a little bit leaner than the rest of the cylinders for some reason. Perhaps you could find a way to correct this yourself?

I think I need to make a video for this. my suggestion is to use a cast iron burr if you plan on taking any material out because it won't get away from you like a aluminum burr will use it on a slow speed with lots of lube, you can order that stuff from Standard Abrasives. If you haven't bought a grinder yet I suggest a air grinder with a front exhaust so it will help blow the wasted material away or a electric grinder but I cannot suggest which one because I don't use them.<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by GSRswapandslow &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">don't **** it up</TD></TR></TABLE>
I agree and good luck

Try and it and you'll see why many don't do it. It takes a certain passion along with grinder control, and some initial equipment.

If you actually want to reuse the head, i suggest u dont use a burr. It will take off too much metal, and you could seriously mess up the port job. I suggest just using sandpaper bits and smoothing out the ports.

that is why I suggested that anyone trying this to use a burr that has a cast iron cut so it won't take out alot of material, If your not going to take any material out I wouldn't waste my time doing it, I don't think you would see any gain at all by just polishing.
