Default port only one side ?

Just curious what would happen if i only ported one side of the intake runner and replaced the ported side with type-r style valve or flat faced valve

Would that increase swirl and gas mileage without having different primary lobes like on eco vtec?

Im not planning to do it just interested how would that affect power and mpg.

Seems like it could work in theory. I could potentially see some improved swirl and homogenization @ lower rpms and throttle angles, but at WOT I think power output would be better with even flowing (and better flowing) ports.
Would definitely be an interesting test!

I thought I posted this yesterday....but for some reason I don't see it. Crazy in my old age !

Tumble and swirl is for fuel economy at idle and low speed engine operation. You do not want them in a high performance application where the goal is to maximize horsepower. The primary focus of cylinder head development for most new OEM 4 Cyl cars is tumble and swirl for this reason only...and you will see some really goofy design attributes in new OEM direct injected heads to promote this. These cars NEED the turbo to make any sort of respectable power. If you do that, you will make less power than if both were ported....100%

Look up some diagrams/theory about Suzuki's Twin Swirl Combustion Chamber, aka TSCC. That is the swirl that you want. Vertical not horizontal. Making one intake port larger than the other would throw off the reason for the hemispherical design of our heads. If anything you want to make sure they are as equal as possible. It's the ratio between intake and exhaust that becomes crucial. Along with engine RPM, intake design, exhaust scavenging etc..etc...etc....
