Default Piston to valve contact not possible!

Hi I locked the vtec rockers and tried to get the limits by fully adv intake +10 and retard exhaust - 10 on aem tru time gears but no contact, same when both cams are adv +10 and ret - 10. Head is definatley skimmed, b20 block was skimmed once by me too. Oem b20 headgasket used. Camshafts are edelbrock 4730, pistons are ycp cast (ITR or b16a spec not sure). Am I doing something wrong because that's alot of adjustment with high lift cams although they've got relatively low duration. Anybody help?

You're probably not doing anything wrong. The 4730 cams sound like a good selection for your build.

They're bigger than ITR/CTR camshafts, but from what little I know about them, I don't think by a huge amount. From what I've heard you can start these on 0,0 timing and adjust from there on a dyno to see where they most like to sit.

Any idea how I can measure valve to valve clearance?

I've run these cams in a stock type r motor and made significant improvement in mid range power by adjusting some overlap with cam gears. motor made 143 torque to the wheels at 6000 rpm. You should see some good torque numbers in around this area. I think the most we moved cam gears was 3-4 degrees.

3-4 degrees advanced or retarded on both cams or are you talking about changing lsa for invreasing/decreasing overlap? Also how were they on the rockers with the high lift and did you use stiffer springs? Thanks
