Some more food for thought.. E85 and a Aeromotive fuel pump.

Heavy white powered crust, notice how it is forming on top of a anodized surface.

Source of failure, also almost cost me a motor, luckily I caught it in time still had to spend about 2500 redoing the head and fuel system.

The glue for magnets is destroyed, it flakes and powders off. The "Gunk" on the magnet is actual magnet material that was ground off do to the center rubbing self/machining itself in the magnet. I have another Aeromotive pump and you can hit the magnets with a hammer and they dont budge, I guess the glue and alky is a no go.

Nothing like some magnet paste to spice up your fuel stream.

You can barely see it on the toolbox but there was ton of material/powder in it, you can clearly see where it was rubbing the magnet.

Just be aware of some of this stuff, I would hate to see some one else go threw what I went threw.

Great add Tuna.

I still think the white powder is Aluminum Oxide from insufficent coating.

ok, i'm looking for some clarification on this stuff...

i am going to be running a return line and it would be stupid to not make sure of all compatibility for e85 at the same time.
i was considering making it all stainless but the fitting cost is extreme. like 30-50$ per each hose end/fitting. so then my options are the black ano-tuff or plain steel. i'm leaning towards the ano-tuff being better correct?

also, in all my digging i never saw anyone talk about the steel banjo fittings and aluminum washers of the oem rubber lines. are these not being effected?
could there also be a difference in the cast vs newer milled block fuel rails?

any recommended fuel filter? perhaps the 35micron earls. with that i could skip buying extra banjo fittings to an oem filter.

More fun E85 carnage, found this a few months ago just havent got around to taking a pic of it. This was a brand new earls -8 line from my fuel pump to my fuel filter. The entire inside of the fitting is gone and it ate threw the bottom of the hose and outer fitting sleeve.

That blows. How long was all this stuff swimming in e85? We talking weeks or years or what?

About 9 months, it started out fine, but all of a sudden started headed south bad. At the time no believed me until I started pulling parts apart and showing them. All of the fuel was bought at Citgo, other local people had similar problems. If you get some funky batches it can tear **** up.

just showing what e85 did to my oem filter(which was nothing), since uprgrading your filter to a e85 compatible filter is a must for switching to e85, and everyone is showing how damaging this fuel is. the glue didnt deteriorate, there was no white residue built up on the inside. a while ago people were asking for someone to cut open a oem fuel filter that has been used with e85 to se what e85 does to it(i guess some people dont want to upgrade their filters to a e85 compatible filter if they dont have to). im sorry my video is stopping world hunger or bringing world peace.
