Default p28(vtec)

i am looking into buying a stock p28. will the stock ecu make vtec kick in from a dohc vtec motor???? or does it need to be chiped??

will vtec kick in at all with stock p28??? i thought people said that it will.

It will "kick in" at 4200. The timing and fuel maps won't be right for a DOHC motor either. Chip it-I would only run a stock P28 in an emergency.

i've heard of some people using their stock p28 to run on their dohc vtec motor, but i dont recommend it. If you think about it, the p28 was made to run the sohc vtec motor...thus sohc vtec a/f maps...thus, big loss in power, also possible risk of damaging the motor. I recommend going w/ a chipped p28/p72/p30...if you have any questions regarding ecu's or programs...feel free to PM me
