NPR piston ring problem
according to my new assembled engine has the unusual compression pressure, I am looking for what is go wrong.
I have some question about the NPR ring, I am confused which ring should be on the first and which for the second. I have seen "TOP" stamped on the ring and "N050" on the other one.
I am confusing the "TOP" means is the first ring? But according to service manual guideline and the edge in this should be place for 2nd.<<<I did it , but got unusual compression.
Anybody have some of experience with these set ring?

Re: NPR piston ring problem
No, "Top" means that side faces the TOP of the piston... or cylinder head... or hood. Typically, the second compression ring is THICKER than the top ring, however, in some cases they happen to be the same thickness. In this case, the top ring is shiny (especially if the rings are Chrome-moly) and the second ring is a dull black.

Re: NPR piston ring problem
if you buy a new box of rings and open the box from the top the box will have flaps that read "top ring" then 'second ring" third ring"
a youtube'er named flaming idiot explains this very well in one of his postings on honda engines. check it out.
