Ngcsh530's proposed D16z6 power build - Initial questions
Wondering if anybody could help me out. I’m trying to do a VTEC build but with it being 2019 your pretty limited when it comes to finding an engine I have picked up a 92 CRX ESI with a D16z6 125bhp. I have also seen some of these engines come in a 130hp & 150hp but can’t figure out the difference or how to tell witch one is witch. I have seen some people upgrade the blocks etc and fit a turbo kit reaching up to 500hp I just hope that the 125hp engine I have is going to be capable of pushing out simular kind of power?

Z6's make 125 bhp. I haven't seen any factory 150bhp versions ever. The jdm d15b or d15z7 was rated at 130bhp.

Yeah I think your correct I had a look at D series on Wikipedia after I posted this and it layed out all the engine codes and what they produce and I believe they do go up to 130 on the Y8 correct me if I’m wrong I just know that when I ran the plate on a crx esi like mine it came back as a 1600 with 150bhp

Maybe a crx sir with a b16a would be 150-160bhp. Y8 was rated at 130 but most people agree the z6 is a better engine to start with building.

Possibly I don’t know to much about hondas never owned one just decided I don’t want to spend 12 grand on a sports car with 250bhp that will break every 6 months and cost me a years wages to have it fixed lol wouldn’t getting my hands on a b16a or a b18c4 but not easy to come by I’m just looking what parts to use on my d16 as it won’t be a budget build it will be the real deal
