New valves?
This is my first mini-me build for shits giggles late nights in the garage and beer after getting out of the Marines. I got the head from a guy that had seemed like he left it outside in the rain possibly but not a ton of rust. I disassembled the head and sent it off to the head shop thinking i could get the valves clean. After soaking them over night, scrubbing with a soft wire brush, taking a dremel with a wire brush, i still cant get some of the valves seats clean or rust off the bottom. My last resort is to buy new valves. The machine shop dude is pretty much a dick and overcharged me to resurface my head(because he's the only machine shop in the town) so im sure he'll charge me out the ass to cut the valves.
can i put sand paper to my valves? how hard can i go with a dremel and wire brush? can i use a coarse wire brush? http://i1129.photobucket.com/albums/...s/100_2748.jpg http://i1129.photobucket.com/albums/...s/100_2747.jpg http://i1129.photobucket.com/albums/...s/100_2742.jpg http://i1129.photobucket.com/albums/...s/100_2746.jpg http://i1129.photobucket.com/albums/...s/100_2745.jpg http://i1129.photobucket.com/albums/...s/100_2744.jpg |
Re: New valves?
I would send them to be spot faced and check overall condition. I would not take sandpaper to them.
