That motor will like some more plenum volume...It will carry the power out and won't hurt mid range much either.

Right losing mid range is what I was afraid of since this is a strictly street car

Wondering if I could get some suggestions on cams, valvetrain, and injectors. My head is sick except for the cam gears. Looking to get the most HP that I can still drive daily. Thinking about skunk2 tuner stage 2 cams. Undecided though. Would like to get as much power on my daily as I can. Suggestions please.....

My setup:

Bottom End:

B18B1 block bored to 81.5mm
NPR USDM ITR pistons with teflon coating (Was shooting for 12:1 compression)
Shot-peened LS rods
Stock B18B1 crank
ARP rod bolts
ARP head studs
ACL Race main and rod bearings
ITR oil pump, ported and shimmed
ITR water pump
Gates Racing timing belt
Exedy 8.8lb flywheel w/ARP bolts
ACT 6-puck sprung clutch
Innovative mounts

Head:

B16 head, stock casting
OEM valve stems
OEM valves, 5 angle valve job
ITR dual valvesprings
Crower 402-A2 cams
Cometic head gasket
GE LS-VTEC kit
GE cam gears
Blox IM matched to TB w/thermal gasket
70mm Professional Products throttle body w/thermal gasket
3" short ram w/Blox velocity stack and filter
DSM 550cc injectors
Hytech rep header
Blox adjustable test pipe
2.5" SS Yonaka exhaust

Tuned on Crome at Phantasm in Raleigh, NC. 8200rpm redline: 199whp, 135tq

I really wanted to break 200whp, but this was the first motor I've ever built and assembled myself and more than anything I just didn't want it to break, period. LOL

The headlight intake is a recent addition for the track only, I suspect that it probably nudges me over the 200whp mark but haven't dyno'd on it yet.

There are a lot of things holding me back, if I could do it over again I'd definitely go with forged internals so at the very least I could run a shot of nitrous without worrying. And I would have sleeved it for 85mm or so, I see some awesome numbers from B20VTECs that I'll never reach with my current setup. However, the whole thing has been a learning experience, so as long as I learn from my mistakes, it wasn't a loss. And it is still pretty fun to drive!

You haven't given us any other information about your build...

The amount of laziness and short sightedness exhibited by some people continues to amaze me.

Use B16A pistons for cylinders 1 & 3, then B16B pistons for 2 & 4.

Here's my temporary setup. Original B18B head had 3 valves not sealing properly and was blowing smoke like a mad man. It needed to be completely rebuilt and I said "screw that". So I threw this together to get it running when I got a killer deal on a B16 Head from a 2000 EM1. Long term, I'm picking a B20 block that I'll have machined to 84.5mm, will go to 13.1:1 compression, manley rods, king main and rod bearings, Type R oil pump, GSR Water Pump, Skunk2 Tuner 2 Cams, new intake manifold, 1000cc ID injectors, AEM High Flow Fuel Rail, AEM High-Flow E85 fuel pump and new high-flow fuel filter.

Head:
  • B16A2 Head
  • Ported & Polished
  • 3 Angle Valve Job
  • New Valve Seals
  • Blox Dual Valve Springs
  • Blox Valve Retainers
  • Supertech Hardened Valve Keepers
  • Stock B16 Cams
  • OEM Camshaft Seals
  • Valves Lashed To .007
  • Cometic 84mm Head Gasket
  • ARP Head Studs
  • NGK Iridium Spark Plugs
  • NGK Spark Plug Wires
  • Integra Type R Distributor

Bottom End:
  • Stock B18B1 Block

Intake:
  • Ported B16 Intake Manifold
  • Skunk2 Alpha 70mm Throttle Body
  • Blox Throttle Position Sensor
  • AEM Short-Ram Intake

Exhaust:
  • Some Random 4-1 Header
  • Yonaka Cat-Back Exhaust

Drivetrain:
  • Stock LS 5-Speed Trans
  • Action Stage 3 Six-Puck Sprung Clutch

Misc:
  • P28 ECU w/Hondata S300

Dyno: 172whp
