Is this a lack of changing oil, or a residue from a synthetic?

Is this a lack of changing oil, or a residue from a synthetic?
Just removed the oil pan, and the valve cover from my jdm motor, and im worried. The pictures dont do it justice but, everything inside is stained a dark orange color.
What is this, because ive never seen anything like it.

Years and Years of getting engines from importers, I haven't seen one like this. It's called varnish and its from using conventional oils that typically stain the metal surfaces. It also comes from prolonged oil changes, as well as the oil breaking down and getting too hot.
The good news is, there is little to no sludge. It would be hard for me to accept this when I'm used to non varnished engines, but you may be stuck with it and it will likely be just fine.

Thanx for the reply.
Something tells me there should of been a compression test done, before i tore it down.
I see zero wear anywhere, so hopefully im ok...just the varnish.
Hopefully everything is in order
