Default k20z3 destroked to 1.5L 200mph setup

So i was reading the honda-tuning magazine awhile back and came across this artical about breaking 200mph. Now the hondata crx is using a k20z3 destroked to 1.5L. It says they think the 1.5L k20z3 with a turbo will prevail. As this was written it was all up in the air to use a Nitrous system, turbo setup or both. Great read, Here's a link

http://www.hondatuningmagazine.com/f...sir/k20z3.html

Now my question is why would they go from a 2.0L destroke down to a 1.5L?
More rpms with a smaller motor?

crazy Itb setup, pretty nitrous lines..

theu had a b16 destroke to 1.5 too because its a rule i think u have to be 1.5l and under to break records its like running a 72mm in outlaw....i guess it would be too easy to do on a 2l turbo...

ok that makes perfect sence i i guess i got so caught up in the setup to run 200mph part i forgot its a class car and they have limits on displacement. Anyone know if they broke the 200mph mark?

its probably a class thing, breaking 200mph with a 1.6L or bigger is alot more common. along with that.........a destroking a k20 to 1.5L is going to give a stroke around 68.9mm. with that stroke average piston speed would be a lil below 5000ft/min at 11,000rpm.

ok, nvm i just read the article.....89mm bore not the stock 86.....and 61mm stroke.

Look at all that desert powder. I wonder how many air filters they use.

Somebody should write up the SiR w/ the 1.5L destroked B16 that broke the stock body class record, recently. They shattered the standing record and were like 2 mph slower than the 2.0L class.

That's some cool stuff, though.

I talked to the engine builder, and it was pretty interesting.
