hmmm. I need to brush up to understand these drag racers.. There's a weak point with the tensioner? As long as it is a Type S one, there should be no problem.
TODA Racing, Hybrid Racing and Skunk2 all have replacement tensioners available. (In that particular order)

Since 04 and a ton of builds, we have never had an OEM tensioner fail. The aftermarket ones are the scary ones.
Make sure you have good oil pressure at idle and keep an eye on your chain guide condition and you will be in good shape.

That's all there is on the subject ? I haven't checked the codes on ours to see but suspect I may be having timing chain/tensioner issue at only 83k miles. Does anyone have a comment on this article? http://www.hondatuningmagazine.com/t...r/viewall.html

I swear by thr HR unit. Real quality piece with teeth on both sides of the tensioner as opposed to the oem unit which only has teeth on one side. I work at an Acura dealership and we replace about 1-2 a month, on an average customer base of about 450-500 customers a month, and all replacements have been to rsx's, both S and non-S models. Granted, thats not alot, but these are regular cars that come in for routine maintenance and normal drivets with no modifications. Something to think about.
Edit: just read that article, and oddly enough it all sounds familiar! When tensioner's fail here at my dealership, they are ALWAYS tow in's that have been sitting awhile or aren't driven much as they are driven by elderly people who don't drive it everyday and don't put alot of miles on the vehicle.

Also, a cracked tensioner could be installation error.
Would it be a tire manufacturers fault if the customer drives over a nail and pops their tire?

Ummm, I am a real person with a real job at a real acura dealership, where people own vehicles powered by a K motor (rsx, tsx, rdx), and i even provided a fail rate. What was i missing there?
