help with milling head on poor mans type r!!!
Since i'm losing the compression by putting the head on gsr block i am trying to figure the best way to gain the compression back. I was thinking of milling head a little but don't know how much really to take off the head, don't want too much or too less. The bottom end is staying stock but the head is fully built with rev valvetrain and stage 2 skunk 2 cams. I know i could put a thinner head gasket on it but would that cause me any problems with driving everyday??I guess basically my question is, is it worth the money to mill the head, if so how much??
ANY HELP IS MUCH APPRECIATED!!!

there is a certain amt that you can mill the head and still be safe, however the bump in compression is not going to be a very big jump, even the thinner hg will only produce very minimal results, higher comp pistons is the only real way to get a significant compression increase

Re: help with milling head on poor mans type r!!! (MajorPayne)
Well I know that would be the only real way to bump the compression, but i'm not goin for that kind of setup on an everyday driver, i'm just looking for something with a little extra kick to it for a daily driver. I know the compression won't be much by milling the head but the loss is much either it's like .2-.4 off the compression from the combustion chamber and i just want to get stock back to stock or maybe a little more!!! thanx though

well if higher comp pistons isnt possible, then the thinner hg and milling the head will definitely be better than nothing, just didnt want you to expect too much out of either of them

Re: (slow91crx)
well the setup is done now and i can sure say it's not slugish, definately faster than my stock gsr, that head feels alot better!!!

im in the same position with my b16 head...
and it seams the only good bump in CR will be the ctr pistons to drive street safe w /pump gas...but mill the head is not a favorite choice... i heard that u can increase like .3 using a thinner head gasket and another .3 w/ falt valves....but i want to confirm the info...

bump xyzalvarez. im curious if i my omni valves and a thin head gasket would up the compression that much. ( or i could just take advantage of the lower compression raatio and spray a 75 shot.

Re: (slow91crx)
you could use the 75 if your built for it, but if you were to mill the head like .10-.20 thousandths and head gastket that should be enough to bump your comp. a hole point maybe 11-1
