275-300whp is a BIG BIG jump for someone who's just starting out, what kinda info has your buddy been feeding you?? lol
for 275-300whp, your engine is pretty much not going to be a B18c1 anymore
new crank 92mm or bigger
resleve, big bore
high comp pistons
new rods
Very good head work/valve job
new Intake manifold
custom header
big cams
a very good tuner
pretty much after all this your engine is like a race motor, not really suitable for street use anymore.
Best way is stick a turbo kit on that b18c, 9-10psi should get you 270-300whp no problem

with 300WHP N/A car u not gonna be able to just slap 10 PSI on it next summer.
slap your buddy for lying to you.
read my specs in signature and go through dyno section here in all motor.
you might want to think about turbo if you want 300 whp
just to give you an idea.
resleeving, ballancing the crank and putting it together by a professional shop will cost you between 3000-6000 depending on what you order
+ headporting another 1500 bucks
and other small parts that will add up to about 10-15K

yeah a 300hp na gsr is very unlikely. there has been multiple b series na shootouts and I think the highest was 230hp? it was many years ago though.

if your ultimate goal is 300whp with boost, but you want to start N.A for a year.
my recommendation is to build a bottom end with about 10 or 10.5:1 CR go for 81.5 forged pistons and eagle rods, stock sleeves will be fine for 300whp. and then a stock gsr head. will have a nice fresh all motor gsr for a year and then it will be really easy to boost and achieve 300whp later on.
