Is this a good setup for 230+whp?
I'm currently debating whether I should h23 swap (h2b crx) or get swap my crx. Initially I was going with the h23 but a buddy of mine is willing to give me a good deal on his unfinished b18c build. The list is as follows:
B16 head
Upgraded springs and retainers
Skunk 2 intake manifold with throttle body
Ctr pistons with eagle rods
The block is complete. I would be going with skunk 2 stage 3 cams to complete the head and get the necessary fuel mods. E85 is available. Is this a good enough setup for 230whp or am I better off with an h23 with cams?
Thanks

Re: Is this a good setup for 230+whp?
One note before you buy that b18/b16 setup. I think that you can not use aftermarket rods with CTR pistons.
Because in the oem rod/piston combo the wrist pin is pressed to the rod, thats what keeps the wrist pin in its place.
In the aftermarket rod/piston combo they usually use floating wrist pins that have rings on both side of the piston to keep the wrist pin in place.
And i think you can make 230 hp from the crank with B18C that have stock stroke and stock or lightly bigger bore.

Yes there are lots of things that need to be taken care of... The engine with that kind of goal needs to breath very easily in and out.
Its a long way but doable if there is enough know how and money. Its good to have some goal that keeps you going.

If you wanna make 230whp fairly easily with a b series I'd say 84.5mm b20 vtec with b16 pistons, arp rod bolts, vtec head and skunk2 tuner 3 cams with proper bolt ons.
230whp from a h23 would be allot easier then trying to make that from a gsr.

Just Go H2B! Stock H series are pretty strong engines, there big but they can punch out some good numbers, The B Series can do it but with allot more work. You will need a good port job on the head if you want to push it to 230whp.
