Drag Cartel 4.5's vs Ultra 3's vs. Ultra 4's - Dyno Results
I had a car. It had an engine. I had 3 sets of cams to try out.
The car was an Acura Integra.
The engine was a K24 with the following
12.5:1 pistons, stock cast head, Supertech Valvetrain, Skunk2 Ultra Intake Manifold, Rcrew Header, 3 inch exhaust
A few curve ***** were thrown in the span of the 2 days that i did this. First thing is my RPM pickup on the dyno was cracked so i was getting intermittent RPM readings. The graphs will be shown in RPM and MPH. Then 4th gear let go while testing one of the cams. So we tested in 3rd and 5th. 5th seem to get a better reading and gave us a better output. This happened when testing the ultra 3's.
This was the Cartel 4.5's.
This was what we got when we dropped in the Ultra 3's.
Since we had transmission issues here is a comparison with what we did get for RPM readings and an overlay of speed vs. speed.
Green run is the Cartel 4.5's. They made better power overall.
Next up were the Ultra 4's. I thought these would rock out.
The red plots are the Cartel 4.5's. The other is the Ultra 4's. The Cartel's performed much better everywhere except for the end peak which was at 8800 RPM.
Perhaps the Ultra 3's and 4's are too much cam for this kind of combo? We had good luck with the Ultra 2's on a simple 87x99 12.5:1 combo.
Does anyone else have any ultra 3 and 4 plots that I compare to? I'm trying to find a good combo for these cams.

Always great seeing real testing shared on the board. Great stuff like usual Mikey. Were the test on pump e85?

Mickey here's a plot of Ultra 4 on
88x99 14:1 comp
Skunk2 ultra 4p ported
Pro 163 head Vtec Killer
I think the cams are probably still too big for my setup, but once i go ITBs and try other things it'll give me room to grow..
They are much bigger then 4.5

Nice to see more tests on the DC vs. Ultra line. Interesting results since the ultra 2 on the last motor you did blew all these out of the water if I remember right.

Not many 330whp k24s don't clear 200 torque. Smaller cam would make a lot more overall power
