I haven't had a problem. And no I am not being sarcastic, I don't rev to 9500 very often, mainly because there is no reason too, nor do I race anymore really, but that is just the limit of the Mugen chip on my p28. So I can if I want to, and I have many times before when I first built the motor.

Mine is B20B with forged internals and stock B16 head. Has about 11k miles on it now, no major problems except its rich at idle. Wasn't dyno tuned. Run Crome/P28 and did 14.4 @95.2mph in full interior 00 Si.
Will dyno tune it soon. What spark plugs do you all use in the B20VTECs on here?? I had the NGK V-power but I here iridiums are better. . .

Are you running B16 cams as well? What bolt ons do you have?

Forged as in Wiseco and Eagle. . .
B16 head is totally stock, so yes B16 cams. Bolt ons are SRI with K/N, JDM DC 4-1 and 2.5' exhaust.
Trying to get bigger TB (64 or 65mm) and IM (Blox or better) now, tune and done for now. Later I do headwork.

I have a b20vtec. i have stock block, 84.5mm Weisco pistons. NO port Gsr head with portflow inners and ITR outters. stock gsr cams. stock rods with ARP rod bolts and worked crank. Compression should be around 12.5:1 according to weisco. i wonder how much power im going to make? i need a header, but im broke so im gong with the knock off 4-1 JDM ITR header.

Re: B20VTEC experiences with stock block (b20powereDA)
Did last year two engines. One on street civic other on rally civic. Rules of serial production car sport are very strict, engine must be almost stock.
Street car run good (EJ coupe). No problems 205 bhp on stock B20Z/B16A2.
Rally civic(EF) with B20Z/B16A1 run 3 rally races and sleeves broke. Stand alone ecu professionally tuned. Rev limit 8200.
One race have some 10-15 stages. Middle length around each stage are 15 km. So, it's WOT from 6000 - 8000 rpm all most one full day. One day that is 200-300 km at full load.
Engine have ITR water and oil pumps.
That's some 1000 km or 600 miles at full load and hard acceleration, then engine give up. Rally not drag racing, in drag race engine are under high load for some seconds. In the rally could be till 30 min. at full load during the stage.

Re: B20VTEC experiences with stock block (B18CXr)
Hey, nice thread BTW. I am planning on doing a B20VTEC Turbo. I will have around 300 -350 WHP. What is gonna happen to my stock sleeves. I will put a block guard on and a Golden Eagel Block Girdle on there too. I have heard stock honda sleeves hold up to around a litlle under 400 Horse. I will prolly be happy with around 300 Horse on the car, cause taht will prolly feel ***** fast in a hatch. Lemme know.

I'm running a stock block, stock head (b16) b20vtec with boltons. I will get it tuned in a couple weeks after I get back from vacation. I'll make sure to post the dyno.

Re: B20VTEC experiences with stock block (Mike K)
first off, your'e using the wrong head for that setup
go with a GSR head...you won't regret it
i'd post up my dyno sheet but people are sick of it already heh

Re: B20VTEC experiences with stock block (acydphryck)
yeah, I would have rather used a gsr head and got some more compression, but i had a full b16 swap in the garage so it made more sense just to use that.
and yeah I am sick of that damn dyno sheet

make sure you put a v-tec oil pump and water pump.on a stock setup i wouldn't rev it past 8000rpm unless you change the rod bolts.

I have the vtec water pump and timing belt, and I think 98 up b-series came with the same oil pumps right?
No arp rod bolts though, but will swapping in another block in a few months anways. I'm just keeping the revs low right now.
I am in belize right now though, and I am craving driving it.
