Default Am I going to notice 11.5:1 vs 11.0:1 IRL. (Kseries)

Instead of titling this "K20A2 vs DC5 K20 Type-R" i'm phrasing it based on the static CR. Why? The only thing staying stock on these engines would be the pistons and possibly the cams. With that being said, is DC5-R engine really worth an extra $2-3K? if i'm going to be changing over virtually all the bolt ons?. Am I missing something great about the K20A or is it just the type R tax? Been away from Hondas for a while and never really touched the 2L K series.

Am I "really" going to notice that slight bump in CR or even the cams along with the slightly higher CR?

It's really a combination in the slightly higher cr, better cams, intake manifold and the lsd trans the r has. If your looking at it cost to benefit ratio I'd say k20z1 or k20z3 will get it done for allot cheaper.

I'm just curious if the slightly higher C/R ALONE, would be noticeable in real life aka "butt dyno". The intake, and probably the cams would be swapped for some Drag cartels so it's really just about the :5.1 bump.


You can get a bare type R longblock here for roughly $2-3K and a older a2/z3 for $1-1.5K when you start talking cost of Drag cartel cams/Super-tech springs + retainers it's iffy if the a2/z3 would be cheaper or even make more power?

Think about it. Is it really worth of $2-3000, especially when you modified engine and only difference what is left, is "PRC" pistons. You can buy those, or any other higher compression pistons later, if that matter. Fraction of cost.
