damm if u think anybody can look at a motor from the outside and tell if its built, wouldnt u think everyone would be fast lik the pros?...

there is a way by seeing if the motor has a lot of dirt on it and if it dose that means its bin runing for some time and the motor should be ok.....j/k

Uh, calm down there big fella.

More or less the answer is no but there are a few things that you should look for and/or ask about but I doubt the dealer will know much.

i wouldnt trust that lsvtec one bit. first off.. you dont know who built it. second.. you dont know how they built it. Does it still have the stock pistons? Where the rod bolts replaced? How clean was the tap for oil line? How many miles and condition of the block before it was rebuilt? Actually you dont even know if its been rebuilt.. for all you know he could have just made minimal work and just swapped the head to a stock bottom.
Anyways.. dealers would clean it up .. therfore any oil leaks will be hidden.
