*NEW* B-Series LMA Info
Porting a head for a customer, I advised him to switch to the newer LMA style for his build (aftermarket cams, road racing, he was using the old tapered nipple style LMA's). I placed the order for the parts and went to pick them up. Apparently, Honda is no longer making the LMA we are all used to for the BVTEC heads, and instead have switched to the spring style as found in S2000, K-Family, and OBD2 Preludes. The old part # has been superceeded to 14820-PCB-305, which is NOT the same as the OBD1 Prelude w/ .040" washer trick, which was part # 14820-PCB-003. Below are some pics...
Old Vs. New
Height Measurement
Height Measurement
As you can see, they are roughly the same height, within a few thou which is within the range of acceptability due to the fact that I was taking the pics with one hand while holding the caliper with one hand and may have fudged the measurement just a bit. I will be doing a coil bind pressure test in the next few days , I'll update this thread when I do.

Havent done any hardcore testing, so I cant give a concrete answer, but if Honda went to this style for their advanced performance engines (H22A, K20A, F20C, F22C) its probably something worth looking at.

Yes, they are lighter. I dont have numbers. The force is pretty small , but if you subscribe to the "every little bit helps" club, maybe you will sleep better at night.

Very interesting. I am curious to see how they will work. How much are they compared to the old lma's? I need to pick some up as soon as my head is back from NRGTech.
EDIT.....
$22.24 each at hondapartsdeals.com
http://www.hondapartsdeals.com...8&y=7
If anyone here can beat that price let me know.

$21.09 each at Majestic Honda assuming they are the newer style. Not sure, just looked them up for a 2000 Si.
