Default Overheating. Changed thermostat. Still overheating!

Hey guys. Recently, the car has been running on the hot side. After turning on the heat (at full power), the temperature gauge will drop back down to normal operating temperature within about 1 minute.

I just replaced the thermostat with an OEM Honda/Acura thermostat (with housing). It is still overheating! The car has 72k miles.

What could be wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Could have a leak, next step is visual inspection & pressure test

I found the problem. There was a hairline crack in the lower radiator hose. I replaced it and it solved the problem!

the cooling system could be air bound also check the temp. sensor it mite not be letting your fans kick on

Yes, and I think it was letting air in when it was leaking the coolant out. Which will account for the low level of coolant and the rough idle.

Even if you have to pay someone else to do it, a pressure test can still save you a ton of money. Proper diagnosis is much better than throwing random parts at it.

That'll do it.

Glad to see you bought an OE thermostat, too. Aftermarket thermostats can often cause more cooling problems than they fix.
