Default Alternative 6 speed manual transmission

We have 06 tsx with possibly a bad transmission. From the noise, we think it's the input shaft bearing. Aside from 04-08 tsx manual transmission, what alternatives do we have that is near similar and direct bolt on?

I don't believe there is a direct replacement. TSX has the unique magnesium case.

Why not throw a bearing in it? $20 part and stupid simple.

I don't have the equipment, nor is it my car. The owner is willing to spend money instead of getting his hands dirty. If we are going to put work into it, we might as well rebuild it but we don't want to because of cost. We think it's less expensive just to replace it

if you are lucky enough to find one they go for quite a bit. From what I hear from the folks at Synchrotech this casing is know to wear out where the bearing goes in. If this is the case for you or the owner then you are forced to A. Buy new casing from dealer and rebuild existing tranny if possible or B. Try to find a used one and hope it doesn't have the same issue.

That is very interesting. I wonder if that is part of why the TSX transmission is SO loud other than being magnesium.

Yea not sure why the thought the magnesium casing would be a good idea.

In what way is it "loud"? 11.5 years. Never an issue, no excessive noise. Sounds like any other K series transmissions.

I think I'm starting to realize I'm the only person that seems to never experience any of these strange issues or interesting claims that everyone seems to have about the 04-08 TSX. And I got mine straight from the dealership. Never had any of these noises, codes, or the fact that it has a magnesium case versus one used with the RSX. In fact, I've had several RSX Transmissions used in TSX for certain Road Race conditions, in some of the enduro or hillclimb TSX cars I've been involved with.

I don't think I'm special, or in any way different from anyone else. It's just that, I've never had any of these problems that a lot of these threads in this forum have created

Lots of gear or bearing noise. Sounds like a loud final drive as it changes with road speed but not load. All new bearings, final drive was swapped from 4.7 to 4.4 and same sounds. When cold it has a really loud input shaft bearing sound.

I just attributed it to being the magnesium case. Also my only K series transmission, maybe they are all loud? My D and B series stuff is all dead quiet when the input shaft bearing is healthy.

The casings are different, but the gear sets from any k20 Si or RSX-S will drop right in to the stock TSX transmission casing. The Euro R Accord comes with a k20, so that could be an option to look into, if you want to just replace everything

All TSX 1st gen owners, look up part 21200-RAP-000, It is the same tranny case for the CL7, just made from all aluminum... The USDM 03-07 Accords with 4 cylinders and a 5 speed manual tranny share the very same casing, just swap out the crap from the USDM 5 speed Acoord case and swap an SI/RSX/Type-R 6 speed gears,an LSD with a 6 speed k series gear selector, and your straight... Stronger than aluminum/magnesium, you also do not need the special case bolts and washers since the case is straight aluminum, save as many 1g TSX's as yall can!!! BTW, the TSX case is part # 21200-RAR-M00

You really wanted to share this huh? Create an account just to post this same thing three times in old threads. Are you sitting on a pile of transmission cases?

Also you will need the clutch case to match. The part number you provided is only half of the full transmission case.
