Torque Converter clutch circuit
I've got an Odyssey 2000, that I got MIL lighted up few days ago and getting a weird lock on low steady speeds, the scan tool gave P0740 which reads Torque Converter clutch circuit /Open, or malfunction, is this electrical or mechanical malfunction, and does this denote a lot of work? replacement or only tune up?
thanks

Re: Torque Converter clutch circuit (medman)
Im sorry to say but when we get that code at Acura it means transmission replaecment. between 2000 to 2003 the trannys were **** in the 3.2 liter engine. So Honda extended the warrenty to 150,000 miles. If you have that motor then you should be covered otherwise this is whats happening.
You have a probelm with the torque convertor trying to lock up with the engine flywheel so they turn at a 1:1 ratio for better gas milage and emissions. You should feel a wierd hesitation at cruising speeds around 40-60mph just crusing with steady throttle. erase the code and if it immediatlly comes on you have an electrical probelm. I f it comes on when you feel the hesittaion then you have a mechanical problem.
Hope this helps some.

Done way too many of them. On the Odyssey, the warranty has been extended to 7 years or 100,000 miles.

Thanks for the reply, what I was getting is a rough bump when I am cruining at low speed from stopping then just leave the accelerator pedal. I reset the MIL yesterday, but I got it again lighted at 80 mph, after a whole day, and still getting this bump on and off, I took the cat to the dealer, but he told me it needs transmission exchange, in fact I am in Kuwait and bought the car from the US, what do I do?
