Default TL vs. CL vs. RL

Alright, i have a question. What is the difference between these three models?? I have never known what the difference is. I did get to drive a 3.2 TL thru a parking lot once, and it was really nice. (I worked at a golf course and some guy thought there was valet parking and threw me his keys...he he he) Anyways, just a question. Peace out.

Let's start with the current.

CL is the 2 door coupe version of the TL. Yes, they look different, but both are built on an Accord platform in Ohio. CL/TL is sort of "mid-level" in status of Acura sedan with the RL being top end from Japan. If the RL/TL are loaded, it's hard to tell them apart from the specs, other than the larger 3.5L V6 on the RL, and 5 speed auot trans on the TL. They both seems to compete in the same market, even thou one is actually higher end then the other. This make the TL a lot more popular because of the lower cost.

Let's look at the past.

The RL is what the Acura Legend was in the U.S., a top notch flagship sedan. RL is still know as "Legend" in Japan. The Acura Vigor was replace by the TL, as the mid level sedan. Because cars get better and better each year, the TL have caught up to the level of the RL. Many are expecting a new better RL (Legend) to compete with the likes of Lexus LS.

I have never seen anything official or semi-official about this. But I think we can be certain that L= luxury, and C = coupe. Other than that, it's anyone's guess.

Sometimes I think marketing just made it up.

Doesn't it sound cool to be driving a "Benz S500SEL?"

Let's break it down.

S - Is there anything sporty about 2.25-ton car? Not too long ago, the "S" should have been stood for "Slow" on a Benz.

SE - Anything special about an edition of a car that is mass produce and it's the best seller for the brand.

L - OK, I'll accept that one.

Again, doesn't Benz S500SEL sounds cool compare "Benz XL," "Benz 500.?"

RL is the best value if you buy it at the end of the year sales. Very luxurious and at $20k less than LS430 and Q45. New RL will come w/ V8.

I don't know about "smoke," but the supercharged 3.8L V6 Regal @ 240hp is car people overlook, and offer good performance. It's not a BMW, but for about $25K fully loaded (at year end discounts/incentives/rebates) is a damm good deal.

RL has around 9 sec 0-60 +/- a few tenths.

Any 3.8L v-6 Buick should meet or beat that, thanks in part to gearing.
1/4 mile might be different, but Granny will still be on your a--.
