Default thinking of buying a tl

I'm thinking about buying a tl i think its 2nd gen (99-03 or whenever) and i was wondering how many of you guys had tl's of that year and want to give some advice. The ones around me in my price range around around 90-100k in my price range. I want to see how all of yours are holding up.
If you could let me know that would be great
Thanks

The 99's have a 4speed tranny but aren't plagued with the same problems that the 00+ have.

I have a 99, but with barely over 100K, i couldn't tell you other that it has only needed scheduled maintenance. I actually gave my dad the car, and it's still running well, no problems.

the only problem with the 2gen is the transmission. the 2nd and 3rd gear are ****. many have done 6speed swap but thats gonna cost you money. i would say got for a 05 at least because the 04 have the same problems. and if you do buy a 2gen call acura client services with the vin number to see if it is covered under the extended warrenty.

I'm also thinking about getting the same TL year (3.2 type S). I wondering if they came out with manual transmission?

Nothing but problems with Automatic Transmissions from 99-03 TL's, Make sure the transmission has been replaced already before you buy one, I used to replace 3 to 4 a week at the dealership. Timming belt should be done at 90k, as well as all the fluids, other than the transmission issues, it's a great car.

I was wondering if you gave your vin to the dealership would they be able to tell you if they got the transmission replace by the previous owner?

Have a 00 TL with 50k. No tranny problems although everyone else I've known with that year has needed the tranny to be replaced. Otherwise a good car.

like everyone else has stated, the tranny is junk. some parts of the aero-kit are also discontinued now (the rear lip) so it may be tough to find certain parts.

i'm at work rite now and i've got 4 trannys sitting in my parts room waiting for the customer to come in and replace them this week. (yes, i work at Acura)....

hahaha, dood it's rediculous how many of these we do. if i was to average it out, i'd say at least 1-2 every week. some of these people are out of warranty too so it sucks for them cuz the tranny reman cores are approx $2K CAD.
