Optimal engine/transmission paring - unusual question
Hi guys,
My transmission on Acura TL 2003 base model just died. It the same time its engine developed white smoke out of exhaust pipe, so it is strong but but has to be replaced anyway. I heard that 2000-2003 transmissions were poorly designed and it is better to use newer transmission of an Acura or Accord. At the same time I have a very unusual preference. If possible I think (unless you recommend not to) I am thinking about replacing my engine with Accord engine: I dont care too mush that my car is fast, but I like the fact that accord is more fuel efficient and also uses regular gas. So, I would like to find a best combination for me, for instance transmission of acura tl 2006 and engine of accord 2005 or may be I can use Oddysey or other cars parts. In my local junk yard they sell transmissions for $80 and engines at 150. I know that you may just advice to me to buy accord, but I dont like accord ride: acura I found is way more quiet and soft ride.
What would you advice? Thank you in advance,
