Found 02 TLS with almost 300k.

Lady lives in a nicer area of my state, (Arlington wa) so I assume basic maintenance has been at least half *** taken care of.

Also I have owned an f22b and b18a so I am pretty comfortable working on those motors.

Two main questions
Is 300k a lot for an early j series lets say if it hadnt had any good maintenance done?

And

Mechanically, I understand a motor is a motor, but do j series operate any different than f/h/b/d motors?

Are they still pgm- fi or whatever Honda calls it? So basically the idle is still set by the screw on the TB and uses a MAP and not a MASS and the intake is still has a negative vaccum? Egr? Etc. And everything pretty much operates the same but just 2 more cylinders? This sounds ignorant huh? I'm not sure how else to explain it.

One minor question. How hard is it to check the timing belt? With I4s I have gotten in the habit of taking a rachet a 12 mm with me when I inspect a car before I buy it cuz all it takes is 5 bolts to pop off the valve cover and look at the timing belt. Probably not so easy on a j series?
