Acura TL SH-AWD Problem: Is this problem an Intake Manifold, or tuner issue?
I'm lacking power below about 3,000 RPM and am wondering if it's due to a gummed up intake manifold. Once I'm over 3,000 RPM, it pulls nice and strong. Under 3,000 it's sluggish. My best guess is it isn't getting enough air below 3k, then the butterfly valves open over 3k which is when it really wakes up. I was changing my PCV valve the other day and from what little I could see it looked pretty gunky inside. I'm planning on pulling the IM this weekend and giving it a good cleaning. Could this be my issue? Vehicle is a 2011 Acura TL SH-AWD (3.7L J37A4 motor) with 67,000 miles. And yes, it burns oil like every other 4th gen TL (about 1 quart every 3,000 miles).
